Branch News will set aside time to honor our 50- year members. The branch will receive notification from the Home Office as to which members qualify for this honor. We will then notify the honorees by mail. Are you ready for baseball? Here in central Pennsylvania the opening day for the Altoona Curve (the AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) will be here April 6 against Trenton. It will be good to see may branch members and their families for a fun-filled season of baseball. We will be looking forward to seeing you all again this year. Mark your calendars. Branch 800 has scheduled it's annual summer picnic for Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 6:00 p.m. (rain or shine) at Highland Park in Altoona. Whatever the weather, you can be assured that thousands of fishermen will jam the creeks and lakes on the first day of trout season, which begins April 15. Some call the first day of trout season the "annual shoulder-to-shoulder day along the river banks" because so many anglers turn out. Good luck to all fishermen on opening day in landing that big catch. The WPA scholarship foundation is accepting applications for scholarship grants for the school year 2006- 2007. We ask branch members to read the eligibility rules to see if your son or daughter is eligible. All applications must be postmarked no later than May 31, 2006. For your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Bob Jones at 814- 942-2661.
