Branch News Branch 88 Rural Valley, PA by Joe Chobody On Feb. 12, Branch 88 held its annual party. A large turnout was on hand and everyone was able to sample a variety of very good food. Endre Csornán, the WPA's membership activities manager, outdid himself once again, cooking fresh gulyás outside in an iron kettle. A big thank you goes to all who attended. Special thanks go to Endre, National Director Ron Balia and branch officers Dennis Chobody, Sam Mikita, Sherri Wilson, Tom Baculik and Jack Baculik. Also, thanks to members Jacob Baculik, Vi Baculik, Sandy Mikita, Kathy Chobody, Mike Chobody and Jessica Chobody. A job well done! Torma If you watch the "Ellen DeGeneres" show, you may have seen one of our own on a show during the week preceding the Super Bowl. Beverly Hősek was chosen to appear on the "Ellen" show as a winner of the "Desperate Wives" contest. The winners, who were looking to escape their football fanatic husbands, won a fun-filled Friday at the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Beverly told our local news station that she applied to get away from her husband who is Steelers crazy. Beverly said the contest is the first she has ever won, and she looked forward to being on the show. She attends the Branch 296 Christmas party every year with her three children, Danielle, David (DJ) and Taylor, and her mother Georgiáimé Gonzales. Congratulations, Beverly! Branch President Ron Balia asked that I report on his attendance Feb. 12 at a very successful membership drive at Branch 88 in Rural Valley, Pa. Delicious gulyás and kolbász were prepared and served to those in attendance. President Balia offers special thanks to Membership Activities Manager Endre Csornán who prepared the gulyás outdoors the old-fashioned way. It was a big hit with all. Congratulations to Dennis Chobody and his branch on a job well done. Ron wants to mention that while at the membership drive, he had the opportunity to speak with 91-year old Tom Piscolish, who has been a regular at our bowling tournaments for many, many years. Tom promised Ron that we will see him again at the upcoming tournament this May. Looking forward to it, Tom. Happy anniversary wishes to Helen and Boris Gosciejew. Anniversary wishes are also extended to Randy and Traci Fritz. Hope your day is a special one and that you have many more happy years together.
