Branch News thank the branch officers, members and friends who gave their time and effort to make this year's party success­ful, including: Patty Balia (thanks for all of the beautiful decorations!), George and Irene Charles, Noreen Fritz, Boris and Helen Gosciejew, / 4 in the Ronda Grotefend, Marge and Antoinette Kosheba, John Rusak, and John and Diane Torma. Thanks also to everyone who brought cookies and desserts. Congratulations to our Christmas raffle winners George Charles Sr. and Richard Toth. Thanks to everyone who supported the raffle. Our sympathies are extended to Charlie and Rosalie Zimmerman and their family on the death of Charlie's father, Julius Zimmerman, a long-time member who recently passed away. May Julius and all of our departed members rest in peace. Get well wishes to our good friend Martha Schuller. Martha has been through a very serious illness and spent weeks hospitalized following surgery, but is home now recuperat­ing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Martha. We miss you. We hold our monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Springdale at 7:30 p.m. The next scheduled meeting is on March 9, weather permitting. Branch President Balia would like to encourage mem­bers to read Endre Csoman's compel­ling articles relating to his visit to Hungary and the SARA project. Ron will be discussing ways in which our branch can participate in this worth­while project at our March meeting. Please join us. Santa Claus leads the children of Branch 81 singing of Christmas carols . Branch 296 member Chase Balia plays with the spinning light toy given by the WPA to all young members who attended branch Christmas parties this past holiday season. Bill Averman entertained all with his magical performance, followed by the much anticipated arrival of Santa Claus. Gift bags full of treats from the Home Office and the Branch were then distributed to each child by Branch President Ron Balia and Branch Coordinator George Charles. The William Penn hats and spinning toys were a big hit! The afternoon concluded with a delicious buffet lunch and Christmas cookies. Much thanks to the Home Office and Board of Directors for the financial assistance and promotional items. Also, President Balia wishes to Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank Happy Valentine's Day on Feb. 14 to all WPA members and their families. Would you like to make someone happy? Why not call them and wish them a Happy Valentine's Day? You would be surprised how thankful people feel when they realize you did not forget them on this truly lovely day. It's celebration time for all members of our Association. The WPA will celebrate is 120th anniversary on Founders Day, Feb. 21. We at Branch 800 send our congratulations to the National Officers, Board of Directors and Home Office staff. Just a little reminder that the Lenten season begins on Ash Wed­nesday, March 1. Just as time waits for no man, so too will time pass quickly before Lent begins. Lent is the season for all of us to look at our spiritual lives and see how we can improve them. Our branch held its Christmas party for kids and adults this past December. We thank the Home Office for the monetary help and other gifts that were sent for this annual affair. It turned out to be succesful because of you. We also thank all members who performed their assigned tasks, ensuring all guests had a pleasant time.
