Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Springdale Veterans Association Home. Please join us for a fun-filled day. If you have any questions about any of WPA's quality life insurance and annuity products, call Noreen Fritz at (412) 821-1837. Our next branch meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Springdale. Branch 705 Mayville, WI by John J. Lippert After trying for many years, the WPA trapshooting team won first place in the summer league at the Mayville Gun Club. This is a great accomplishment considering this year's competition consisted of 36 five-man teams. These teams represented various businesses and organizations from the county. The season consisted of 16 weekly shoots, with each team shooting at 125 clay targets using 12-gauge shotguns. The 80 percent handicap scoring system was used, thus allowing both novice and accomplished shooters the chance to win. Before the last regulations shoot, there was a four-way tie for first place. After that shoot, two of the four were eliminated, leaving Aubrey Electric and the WPA to decide the winner in a shoot-off. The WPA won by a margin of eight targets. The team members were joined by their spouses for a victory dinner at the Inn in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank The branch's annual summer picnic was held in August at Highland Park in Altoona. It was another perfect weather day for the affair. The catered meal was very good. Our thanks to all those who did their part in making this an enjoyable evening. Daylight savings time comes to an end on Oct. 29. Please remember to turn all your clocks back one hour. It's Branch News WPA sales representative Noreen Fritz (standing) describes some of the benefits of WPA membership to those attending Branch 8114’s recent steak fry. also a good time to replace the batteries in your home's smoke detectors. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz The branch annual steak fry was well attended and enjoyed by all! At the steak fry, I had the pleasure of meeting the Rev. B. LaMounte Sayers— alias Father Monty-and laughed at his humor and wit. He is the newest priest at The Immaculate Conception Church. He is popular and well liked. We were very happy to have him attend the steak fry. I didn't have a chance to say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Osterried but it was really nice seeing both of you there. Plans are now in the making for the branch Christmas party, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 5. Member James Amato recently had a kidney transplant and his brother Michael donated one of his kidneys. They are both doing fine and recuperating at home. Member Joseph Smith is living at the Country Springs assisted living home near Sligo and he still drives to church almost every day. Please remember these members in your prayers.
