■Branch News Branch 13 Trenton, NJ Last holiday season, young Kyra Beke wanted to give a special gift to someone special. So Kyra, then age 9, had her beautiful long brown hair cut short, and donated her cut hair to the Locks of Love program (see photos on right). Her hair was made into a wig for another young person undergoing treatment for cancer. It was a simple gesture but one that spoke volumes about the true spirit of fratemalism. Kyra is now 10 and entering the fifth grade at Samuel Mickel Elementary School. Her grades are top-notch, as are her dancing skills. A real Hungarian, Kyra has been known to survive on large quantities of stuffed cabbage. She is the son of fellow Branch 13 member Brian Beke and the granddaughter of National Director Anthony and Marguerite Beke. Along with her brother Kyle, she is the apple of her grandparents’ eyes. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy beautiful fall season! We have had a very hot and humid summer, as have most of you. Aren’t we glad that’s done for a while? We had our first rainy golf tournament this year. I have often wondered what we would do it if rained on us that day. Well, I found out. They golfed. I am amazed by the tenacity of our members, spotters and golfers. We had a great time. Almost everyone completed the tournament. Congratulations to Endre Csornán and the coadministrators, Andy McNelis, Nick Kotik and Anne Marie Schmidt. They made the tournament a success, with the help of our seasoned National Officers. I also need to thank all of you who again made our Chinese auction a giant success. We brought in a whopping $2,060 which went directly to our Scholarship Foundation. Thank you to all the directors and their spouses for staying the entire day and evening, sorting and selling chances. I also need to thank Lisa Toth and Ronda Grotefend for all their behind-the-scenes help they gave me all this year. We have one more auction to go this year. We are planning our best and biggest auction ever at the annual WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest this month. Hope you are planning tojóin us. If you have a donation, please bring it with you to the event or make sure you contact Ronda, Lisa or me, and we will make sure it gets there. Many thanks in advance. Get well wishes to Elsie Kantor, Lori Dear, Deac Sabo and Rocky Borsa. Get well soon. You are terribly missed. Thanks, Emma and Rocky, for the wonderful donations to our Christmas party. You are the best. The Robert Jones Council of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Golf League is celebrating its 25th season this year. Congratulations to Helen Molnár who is in first place.
