Branch News to meet and welcome Richard Socey, a longtime WPA member who recently moved to Florida. On May 11, we went to the Harbor House Yacht Club in Charlotte Harbor, Fla., where we held a 120th anniversary party in honor of the WPA. After a business meeting, we enjoyed chicken, potato salad, a relish dish, pastries and cakes. Bingo was played, and Mike Tomcsak spoke on the founding and history of the WPA. Door prize winners were Art Shinski, Joe Bartha, Kristina Pingiczer, Helen Toth and Sophie Juhasz. Helen Rosner won the Mother's Day bouquet of flowers and a crystal rose. Kalman Magyar won the men's prize: a WPA cap. Thank you to Ilona and Antal Schmidt and Helen and Eugene Toth for all their help in setting up the hall. We will resume our monthly meetings in September. Margaret and Bob Menner have moved to Michigan. They will be truly missed. We wish them well. Scholarship winners were Andy McNelis, Joe Bartha and Bob Menner. Get well wishes to Elsie Kantor, Mary Arm Kelly-Lovasz, Steve LaFlame, Kathy Chobody, Elizabeth Szabó and Arlene Csornán. A special hello to Glenn Davenport. I recently received a letter from former Branch Secretary Rose Darab. She is busy making cookies for her granddaughter Jillian's wedding. She says hello to everyone. She recently celebrated her 88th birthday. Welcome to Vivian and Richard Hollis. They moved to Clermont, Fla. They were originally from Branch 18 in Michigan. I enjoyed meeting them and sharing supper at the Plant City Dinner Theater. Welcome new branch members Natalie Catherine Hulett, Dylan Michele Damon, Frank Socey and Nellie Daniele. Happy 90th birthday to Julia Genes. She's a very sweet lady. Happy birthday to Ilona Schmidt, Bob Menner, Kalman Nagy, Helen Rosner, Austin Damon, Jackson Damon, Jodi Dues, Jennie Dues, Rick Dues, Joey Dues, Reni Gantt, Mickey Tomcsak, Maren Tomcsak, Norah Macegan, Jordan Hopper, Sarina Mauerman and Karsen Damon. Happy anniversary to Lizzie and Steve Wright. On May 5 we traveled to Pittsburgh for the bowling tournament. Congratulations to all the bowlers. Kudos to the Home Office staff for a job well done. At the bowling banquet, we caught up on all the news from Youngstown, Ohio, while enjoying the company of Kathy Novak, Mary and Frank Schauer, Steve Novak and Alan Szabó and his darling daughter Bridget. We attended a two-day sales seminar and listened to Ralph Manning's presentation on estate planning. Very informative. It was nice to see Jack Tokár and Andy Girard, who all attended the seminar. We also attended the Florida Fraternal Congress Convention held May 19 in Melbourne, Fla. Our own Michael Tomcsak, FICF, serves as vice president of the FFC, after serving as its president. Have a happy and safe summer. For all your life insurance needs, call Mike Tomcsak at (863) 858-8071. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank On June 14 our nation will commemorate the adoption of the official flag of the U.S. in 1777. Of all the flags in the world, none surpass the beauty of our American Flag. Display Old Glory on it's 229th birthday at your home. Happy Father's Day to all fathers on Sunday, June 18. It's a special day set aside to honor you. Enjoy the day with God's blessings. Our branch had three members reach 50 years of membership in the WPA. They are Dennis Bebe, Stephen King and Douglas Meintel. All received their special emblem and certificate. May our honorees have many more years in our Association. The month of June has always been known to have many anniversaries. Well, here at Branch 800, we have something unique this month—four members celebrating a 75th birthday. They are Robert Aiken, Mary Frank, Vincent Frank and James Gromiller. It is a most wonderful blessing and gift the Good Lord has given us in these many years here on Earth. Don't forget to keep safety first in mind when traveling on vacation. Many start out their journeys by saying a little prayer for a safe trip. Try it. It is rewarding. Branch members are ready to enjoy the summer months. There are no meetings during the months of June, July and August. We hope to see you at our next branch meeting on Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. We encourage members to support our branch by telling your family, relatives and friends to join our financially strong Association. Call Bob Jones at (814) 942-2661 for membership information. Remember our branch picnic Aug. 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Highland Park. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
