Branch News Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward During our summer recess a committee will meet to plan an event honoring those who have 50 or more years of membership in the WPA or its predecessors. These members will receive personal invitations and will be honored at the branch meeting Sept. 6. Fall and winter activities will also be planned at that time. Branch 14 will sponsor an outing to the Indians-Yankees game July 6 at Jacobs Field. The limited amount of tickets were quickly reserved by those members attending the May meeting. The annual WPA golf tournament will be held the weekend of July 21 at the Mountaineer Racetrack & Gaming Resort. Golf will be played in an individual ball format with a shotgun start. Any branch member interested in participating should contact Caroline Lanzara at (216) 581-8979. Anyone interested in taking the bus trip to the sixth annual WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest at Penn Scenic View Sept. 16, should contact Violet Sarosi at (440) 248-9012. Congratulations to all Branch 14 members who will be graduating high school or college this spring. Please contact the Ward Agency at (440) 838-1200 with any information regarding special honors, awards, or plans relating to any recent graduate in our branch. We'd love to hear about their accomplishments. Congratulations to the First Hungarian Reformed Church, Walton Hills, Ohio, on the 115th anniversary of their founding. Representing the WPA at the banquet May 6 were Vice Chairman of the Board E. E. (Al) Vargo and his lovely wife Betty, along with Fraternal Director Endre Csornán. It was very gratifying to see such a vibrant and dynamic crowd, many of whom are members of our fine organization. Branch 14 welcomes the following new members: Steven Horvath and Dean Grafious. Please contact the Ward Agency at (440) 838-1200 with the names of any prospective new members. The next branch meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills. All Branch 14 members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Flag Day. Be sure to thank a veteran for your freedom and the right to wave our flag. I want to thank all those wonderful Branch 18 members who contributed to our ongoing SARA project. I have a beautiful filled box to deliver. Remember to bring any medicinal, hygiene or child-related items to any of our meetings or events. I'm always so proud of our branch. Thanks, Al Vargo. The show was great. Speaking of the Vargo family, the female part of the family were recently TV stars. They were on the Today show on a recent trip to New York. Is anyone surprised? They are gorgeous. Dad was so proud. Welcome new member Nicholas Gross. Thank you Emm Borsa. Great visit we had. Rocky is looking a lot better. Must be the great care he receives. Get well to all our members, especially Elsie Kantor, Arlene Csornán, Rocky Borsa and Lou Deregi. Hope you're all better soon. Holy Cross will celebrate Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by a dinner at the church. Call for information. I will start taking reservations for our bus trip to Penn Scenic View in Rockwood, Pa., for the WPA Picnic. Cost to members is $75. We leave on Friday, Sept. 15, and return on Saturday, Sept. 16. The cost covers bus, hotel, breakfast and admission to the picnic where you can eat, drink, be entertained, hear great Hungarian music, meet some wonderful people and dance. Please call as soon as you can to reserve your seat. Our branch picnic is July 30 at Gregory Park on Dix in Lincoln Park from noon to 5:00 p.m. Please bring a dessert or treat to share. All are invited. In fact, bring a friend. After our next meeting on June 21, we will have a break until September.
