Branch News At the branch's February meeting, our members approved a $500 donation to St. Dismas Parish located in the state prison in Huntingdon, Pa. The Catholic chaplain will use the funds to purchase religious items to help the inmates in their spiritual needs. Spring arrives on March 20. It's a good feeling to know that soon we will be hearing and seeing all types of birds migrating to our area to spend the summer with us. Happy 85th birthday to member Martha Jones, the mother of Branch Treasurer Bob Jones. Martha has recovered from a knee operation and is doing very well, health wise. Martha attends branch social events every year. Daylight saving time begins on Sunday, April 3. Remember that all clocks and wrist watches are to be set ahead one hour before you go to sleep the night before. Pray for our men and women in the military and for their safe return home soon. For your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Bob Jones in Altoona at 814-942-2661. Have you noticed in the William Penn Life the good annuity rates that the WPA offers? These special rates are available only to WPA life-benefit members. Call Bob to learn more about the advantages of being a WPA lifebenefit member. The officers of Branch 800 wish all of you and your families a holy and blessed Easter on March 27, as Christians throughout the world will be celebrating this great feast of the Resurrection. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz Easter is a day of miracles. Wishing you peace and joy this Easter as we celebrate the Risen Lord. Branch 8114 sends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of member William Smith. William was a member of the former Catholic Knights of St. George for many years. He will be greatly missed by all. In my birthday list last month, I overlooked James Zachael. I am so sorry, James, that I slipped up. Happy belated birthday to a great guy. I promise I will be more careful next year. Branch 8321 Windber, PA by Edward Surkosky Our branch held a regular business meeting on Jan. 30 at St. Anthony's in Windber. During this meeting, we installed our newly-elected officers for the year 2005. We also reviewed and approved the annual branch report which is submitted to the WPA Home Office. Our members also agreed that we would help out at the porkette sale that was conducted by St. Anthony's on Feb. 5. We wish all our fellow WPA members a most joyous and blessed Easter. THAT’S A QUESTION YOU MAY not have asked yourself very often, if ever. But, it’s one you should ask yourself at least once a year. We can’t stress enough the importance of regularly checking the beneficiaries listed on your life insurance policies. It is the only way to ensure that the people you want to receive the benefits of your life insurance are the ones who will receive it. Think about the changes that have occurred in your life since you purchased your life insurance. Getting married, having children, losing a loved one, getting divorced, getting remarried—all these life changes affect your responsibilities. Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance policies reflect such changes? If you think you need to update the beneficiaries listed on your policies—either primary or secondary beneficiaries—contact your WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366. William Penn Life, March 2005 19
