Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Can it really be that the holidays are just around the corner? Everyone, including Santa, is reminded to mark Dec. 3 on their calendars for the annual Christmas party, which will also be the day we draw our Holiday/Scholarship raffle. Members are encouraged to support this raffle as the proceeds benefit the WPA's Scholarship Foundation. The letters will be in the mail with all the details. Adult members are also invited to attend the annual election of branch officers which will be held after the party. The 1956 Hungarian Revolution was remembered with the traditional placing of a wreath at the Freedom Fighters monument at the Franciscan friary on Belle Vista Avenue. The Hungarian churches of Youngstown will once again be conducting joint Thanksgiving vesper services the Tuesday prior to Thanks­giving. Watch local papers for location and time. Branch 28 will honor its newest 50- year members during our November meeting. Invitations will be sent to all Branch News those celebrating 50 years of member­ship with the WPA. Best wishes to all those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries this month. Branch 34 ^ Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis The leaves have changed; the days are shorter and cooler. That means summer is gone and fall is here. Now it's time we turn our attention to the Christmas holidays. The branch is making the final arrangements for the children's Christmas party and, as of this writing, no firm date has been set. The invitations for the children's Christ­mas party will be sent out in Novem­ber. If you do not receive your invita­tion, please contact me at the number below. The branch's annual meeting for election of officers will be Saturday, Dec. 17, at 2:00 p.m., at the American Hungarian Social Club on Flowers Avenue in Hazelwood. All branch members are welcome and encour­aged to come. Our branch vice president and friend, Terry Anglin, broke her ankle a week ago. Our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery are with you.
