William Penn Life, October 2005 Another Great Fraternal-Fest Membership Activities Manager Endre Csornán (pictured in the lower left-hand corner) has every right to smile, for he coordinated yet another outstanding WPA Picnic on Sept. 10. More than 800 members and friends filled the tents at Penn Scenic View for a day of Hungarian food, music and dancing. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time: from the adults who gathered around the szalonna pits; to the children who enjoyed a “moon walk” and a large inflatable fire truck slide; to the couples who danced to the live Hungarian band; to the families who enjoyed a hayride; to the capacity audience who watched as colorfully costumed young dancers performed traditional Hungarian dances. The event raised $8,771.24 for the benefit of the WPA’s Scholarship Foundation. The ever-popular Chinese auction raised $5,125 ofthat total. The remainder came from the sale of homemade pastries ($1,128.24) and langos ($502), the 50/30/20 raffle ($1,094), the “pocket bike” raffle ($382) and donations ($540). Our most sincere thanks go to Endre and his team of about 100 volunteers who spent countless hours preparing and serving the delicious food, setting up the grounds and making sure everyone had an enjoyable time. And we thank all those who attended and made this day another Great Fraternal-Fest.
