For Starters WPA Foundation to aid victims of Hurricane Charley *__ WPA ready to host 4th annual picnic ROCKWOOD, PA - We’re just about ready to fire up the gulyás kettles and szalonna pits. We hope you will join us on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Penn Scenic View for the fourth annual WPA Picnic - A Great Fraternal Fest. As always, there will be plenty of delicious Hungarian food, lively Hungarian music and lots of fun for the entire family (not to mention a brand new pavilion that will provide additional shelter for hundreds of guests). For more details on the picnic, see the ad on the inside front cover. For a map and directions to Penn Scenic View, turn to the back cover. Correction We extend a special welcome (and apology) to new member Jason T. Bronstrup of Branch 14 Cleveland who we incorrectly identified in last month’s issue. Are your beneficiaries gß uptodate g Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance policies reflect the changes that have occurred during the time since you purchased your policies? If you think you need to update your beneficiaries--either primary or secondary beneficiaries-contact your local WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366 PITTSBURGH — When Hurricane Charley cut its broad path of destruction across Florida, it left hundreds of families homeless. It also destroyed numerous businesses, leaving many more families without a source of income. The pictures taken in the aftermath of Charley attest to the great need for aid. The WPA is calling on our members and friends to join in the relief effort. By making a donation to our Hurricane Charley relief fund, you will be helping to offset the tremendous cost of feeding, clothing and sheltering those affected by this disaster. Charley, with its 145 mph winds, left 23 dead and caused an estimated $7.4 billion in property damage. If those estimates hold true, Charley would be the second most expensive hurricane in history, second only to Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed. In Volusia County alone, 111 buildings were left uninhabitable. A week after the storm, 335.000 remained without power and 100.000 still had no local telephone service. Various relief agencies and volunteer groups were serving thousands of free meals each day to victims and relief workers. In the fraternal spirit, we invite you to make a tax-deductible contribution today. Make your check payable to "William Penn Association Foundation" and mail it to: Charley Relief c/o William Penn Association 709 Brighton Road Pittsburgh, PA 15233. ‘Adopt-A-Table’ seeks sponsors PITTSBURGH, PA ~ The WPA will christen a new pavilion on the grounds of Penn Scenic View during our annual picnic. Under the pavilion and throughout the property are a number of new picnic tables which will provide seating for hundreds of our members and guests. You, your family or your branch can become a permanent sponsor of one of these tables for a donation of $175 to the William Penn Assocation Foundation. Your donation will help cover the cost of the picnic tables. As an "Adopt-A-Table" sponsor, your name will appear on your table. We invite you, your family and your branch to make a tax-deductible donation payable today to "William Penn Association Foundation" and send it to "Adopt-A-Table" in care of the WPA Home Office. 2 William Fenn l ife, September 2004
