The HAC, a non-profit organization based in the nation's capital, was established to mobilize and coordinate the talents and resources of its members and to promote the interests of Hungarian-Americans. "We are happy and proud to be a part of the Hungarian American Coalition," said WPA National President George S. Charles Jr. "Among our Association's founding principles was the preservation and promotion of Hungarian history, culture and ideals. By joining likeminded organizations within the Coalition, we believe we all can better achieve that mission." Specifically, the HAC aims to the picnic. There are huge black kettles hanging over open wood fires, filled with freshly made gulyás. Dozens of guests sit and converse by the open fire pits as they roast their own bacon, preparing szalonna. Then, there's the kolbász, chicken paprikás, mushroom paprikás, lecsó and dumplings,’not to mention freshly made palacsinta and langos and a wide array of homemade pastries. One thing's for certain: nobody leaves our picnic hungry. Throw in a few fun raffles, special activities for the children and boundless fraternal fellowship, and it's easy to understand why so many so eagerly anticipate our picnic. We invite you to join us from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 11 for another great fraternal fest! * I achieve that mission by:- Identifying and promoting the concerns and interests of the Hungarian-American community;- Fostering interest and appreciation in the United States for the history, education and culture of Hungary, including its literature, arts and scientific achievements;- Encouraging cultural and educational interaction between the people of the United States and Hungary;- Protecting and preserving the human and minority rights and cultural heritage of Hungarians throughout the world; and- Supporting democratic institutions and economic development in Hungary.
