Richard Gyuraki, who died as the result of a car accident. Richard was very active in the Club. He was a past president and was always promoting the affairs of Hungarians. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace. Our very best wishes to all the members and their families who may have recently celebrated birthdays. Keep in touch with us; we are all anxious to hear your news. Prayers are asked for all our men and women in the armed forces. May God be with them in these difficult times. We owe special thanks to all the underwriters and employees at the WPA for their efforts. They are always so helpful to us and to our members. Remember to call Jack Tokár at 215- 357-4516 for your life insurance and annuity needs. Tell your family and friends about the benefits of membership in the WPA. Branch 189 Alliance, OH by Sherri Cole The support shown by the Alliance social clubs for our troops has been awesome. Businesses which normally do not allow flyers to be posted on their premises have posted our "Help Support Our Troops" flyers. Thanks to Joe De Geronimo of Costal Pet for the boxes. The soldiers have expressed their gratitude for our support and are looking forward to the supplies, cards and letters. We began this effort because--as the war in Iraq continues, and more of our friends and loved ones are deployed-donations and supplies have not been coming in as they were at the beginning of the war. Joining our branch and its Ladies Auxiliary in this effort are VFW Post 136, Elks Post 467, American Legion Branch 791, the Dante Club, Cantell Elks 1417, Christopher Colombus, Eagles 2174, Moose Lodge 362, Roma, the DAV and Alliance Castings. For soldiers in Iraq, we seek donations of personal care items, powdered drink mixes, snacks that are non-perishable and can be easily packed and can survive desert heat, Branch News Branch 296 Coordinator George Charles (front, right) celebrated his 80th birthday during the branch’s May meeting. Joining George are his wife Irene, National Vice President-Treasurer Diane M. Torma and National Director Ronald S. Balia. balls, games, books, magazines and disposable cameras. For our National Guard troops stationed in Europe, we seek donations of phone cards, stationary and the recreational and snack items mentioned above. For all service men and women, a simple letter or card can make someone's day. Remember: Those men and women defending our country deserve our support. In other branch news, our Ladies Auxiliary held its election of officers on June 6. The officers are: Gracie Cobbs, president; Rhonda Roudabush, vice president; Lori Furry, treasurer; Gloria Vargovic, secretary; and Linda Donahue and Brenda Cort, auditors. Our thanks to Mike Delane for the use of his car and to Don Cole for designing and making the signs. The golf outing will be held Saturday, July 24, at the Hideaway Golf Club. Tee-off is 8:00 a.m. It is a mixed scramble and a shotgun start. The cost is $40. Sign up at the club. Isten Veled. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Goldie J. Szarka Boldog Nyári Napokat Minden Kinek. Happy Summer Days to Everyone. Wishing all of our WPA members a happy and safe Fourth of July. Here we are already in the middle of the year. Time sure goes by fast. We're all doing fine here in our neck of the woods. Our branch is taking a break during the summer months, and we will resume our meetings in September. Joe and Munci Király left for Europe recently for what we hope was a memorable vacation. Munci's nephew, her brother's son, will be ordained into the priesthood in Egre, Hungary. They will also visit relatives in Czechoslovakia and Romania. I hope they have good weather and a great vacation. Congratulations to Branch Secretary Malvene Heyz who will become a grandmother to her ninth grandchild. Malvene's son Ricky and his wife Erin are expecting their new arrival in September. We wish an abundance of happiness to all. Recently, WPA member Zoltán Fejes and his wife Carolyn had a nice visit with their son Zoliié, who came from Hawaii. Greetings to all the July celebrants who are marking birthdays and/or anniversaries. We hope you create some happy memories on your special day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all our shut-ins and members who are sick. Heard that Dr. Victor Molnár is on the road to recovery. Great news! Keep it up.
