Branch News Members of Branch 18 volunteered their time and effort at the Taylor Total Living Center as part of their Join Hands Day project on May I. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 will sponsor a Nautica Queen Dinner Cruise Friday evening, Aug. 27. If you're interested in attending this unique adventure in dining while cruising under historic bridges and experiencing the breath taking view of Downtown Cleveland's skyline, contact Branch President Caroline Lanzara at 216- 581-8979 for more information and reservations. To wind up the summer, Branch 14 will also sponsor a bus trip to the annual WPA Picnic Saturday, Sept. 11, at Penn Scenic View in Pennsylva­nia. The bus will leave from the First Hungarian Reformed Church in Walton Flills at 8:30 a.m. and return around 9:00 p.m. that evening. The next regular Branch 14 meet­ing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church Bethlen Hall, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, Ohio. All Branch 14 members are welcome to attend to help plan future activities. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara House We won! You can be really proud of your branch members who repre­sented you at the Annual Bowling Tournament. The Five Friends women's team~Carol Truesdell, Mary Duzy, Betsy Griffith, Virginia Volter and I-pulled together and came in first place. The Sweet Things-Rose P. Antal, Rose C. Antal, Debbie Molnár, Debra Zywicka and Vivian Hollis­­came in fourth. Helen Molnár's team, the Minnihahas, including Eileen Gonzales, Amy Polakowski, Emilia Blair and Kay Momtsios, showed up and had a great time. Your men's team, Five Friends-Douglas Truesdell, Michael Oberg, Jeff Holmes, Joe Volter and Jared Skinner (gra­ciously subbing for Tom House)— came in second place. The weekend was wonderful. Andy McNelis, you are a real gem. Thank you to all who donated prizes and financially supported the Chi­nese auction. The Scholarship Foundation earned $2,754 from the auction alone. The Saturday night suprise auction was super. The suprise auction's "build-a-bear" theme was the brainchild of Dianne Charles. Thank you, Dianne, you are a great partner to work with. I am so proud of all the work done on the weekend. It showed by it's overwhelming success. Mrs. Oris, you are a joy to be around. Thanks also to Bob and S.J. Ivancso for a job well done. Special congratulations to Bob on being recognized for his 300 game in 2001. Hope you remembered to hug a vet and say thank you on Memorial Day. Our Join Hands Day project was very successful. We planted flowers and cleaned around the Taylor Senior Living Center. It was a terribly rainy and cool day. Many thanks to Tom House, Helen Molnár, Margaret Montgomery, Kay Momtsios, Eileen Gonzales, Ernie Mayoros and Irene Korpák. Please mark your calendars for these upcoming events.- Aug. 1, WPA Branch 18 picnic. Invites are in the mail, or call me for information.- Sept. 10-11, our branch trip to the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest. Member cost is $75. That includes hotel for one night, transportation and admittance to the picnic.- Nov. 7, our 50-year member banquet. Invites are in the mail. If you have been unable to attend or have been missed in previous years, please let me know. You are always wel­come. I need to know in order to have your award printed up.- Nov. 17-18, the Soaring Eagle overnight trip. Member cost is $75. You will receive $30 in cash and food, so you're end cost is only $45. Pretty good deal for a night at a five-star hotel. Transportation and all han­dling is included.- Nov. 28, our annual branch family Christmas party.
