I Branch News Branch 705 Mayville, WI by John j. Lippert We are sad to report the loss of a valued member of Branch 705, Richard P. Seymer. Dick was an active member, attending many of the branch's social activities, including the recent holiday get-together held less than two weeks prior to his death. He also served as a branch auditor for many years and showed a true interest in the status of the branch. In the past, he also served as a district delegate to the WPA General Convention. He will be missed. To his wife Diane and his family, we express our most sincere sympathy and share in their loss. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank Happy St. Patrick's Day to all on March 17. This is a day for Morans, Murphys, O'Learys, O'Donnells and everyone else, too, for we are all Irish on this one big day of celebration. It's a day for parades, parties, singing and wearing of the green everywhere. Have an enjoyable day. Congratulations to very active Branch 800 member John Conti who is celebrating his 75th birthday. May you have many more birthdays to celebrate, John. He is always helping the elderly who need chores done. God bless you. The branch's annual donation to the prison ministry in Huntingdon, Pa., was approved by the branch during our February meeting. Our branch has provided financial assistance to the prison chaplain for more than 50 years. The money is used to purchase materials which will help meet the spiritual needs of the prisoners. Have you given thought to the Lenten season? Ash Wednesday falls on March 5. Lent is the season to seek ways to increase your spiritual growth and prepare yourself for the coming Easter season. Spring will soon be here. For members living out of state, we wish to tell you that here in central Pennsylvania we are having one of those old-fashioned winters with lots of snow and really cold temperatures. But, we can't complain because we enjoyed mild winters the last few years. So, get ready: spring marches in on March 21. Looking ahead we see that we will need to put our clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, April 6. That also means that baseball season will soon be here. The Altoona Curve (the AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) will open their season April 10, at which time the new addition to their stadium will be complete. I see and talk to a lot of Branch 800 members and their families at the games. For all your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Bob Jones in Altoona at 814-942-2661. Have you noticed in the William Penn Life the great annuity rates which took effect on Feb. 1? These rates are available only to WPA life-benefit members. Call Bob to learn about all the advantages of being a WPA lifebenefit member. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz Well, it is still quite cold and the snow does not seem to ever want to stop. But, there is hope....Spring is almost here! Although Phil the groundhog says six more weeks of winter, the calendar says spring kicks in on March 21. And not a moment too soon! So, think spring everyone. With spring comes all the beautiful flowers ready for another year, just like all of our members celebrating March birthdays who are ready for another year. Happy birthday to Pete Chemicky, John Gatesman, John Judy, Dennis McGuirk, Edwin Schmader, William Schmader, Veronica (Noni) Huefner, Lloyd Pontzer, Doris Cherico, Edward Groner, Christopher Paul, Richard Gatesman, William Hamacher, William Radaker, Victor Cherico, Patrick Aaron, Mary Lou Delaney, Mary Groner, Charles Gatesman, Marjorie Hargenrader, Elizabeth Kindel, Bridget Bagileo and William Smith.
