Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward Despite artic-like weather in northern Ohio, plans continue to heat up for Branch 14 activities. The branch will sponsor an evening at "Champions on Ice," Friday, April 18, at the Gund Arena in Cleveland. The show will feature award winning skaters, such as recent Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes, 2003 National Cham­pion Michelle Kwan, Elvis Stojko, Rudy Galindo, Sasha Cohen, and many others. For more information and reservations, contact Branch President Caroline Lanzara at 216 581-8979. Branch 14 welcomes the following new members: Scott Deveny, Betty Pletcher, Mary Taricska-Spoth, Verlaine Favri, Cheryl DeBono, Kadie Michaelangelo, Maggie Michaelangelo and Charles Hartman. Many of these new members were referred by current WPA members via the WPA Recommender Pro­gram. This is a great way to earn some extra cash! Please refer all potential new members to local representative Jeff Ward at 440-838- 1200. The next Branch 14 meeting will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, Ohio. All Branch 14 members are welcome and encouraged to attend to help plan summer and fall activities. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House We're almost there. The first day of spring. I know most of the United States had a really cold Winter. Tommy, Gabby and I are here in Melbourne Beach, Fla., and we also have had a cold January. We had three days below freezing. My good buddy, Carol Truesdell, has had a very serious heart attack. I know her wonderful husband Doug is taking good care of her. He better. I don't know what I would do without her. See you soon. Special hello to A1 and Olga Wansa and Charles Nagy. Great to talk to you. The Hungarian Arts Club of Michigan recently celebrated its annual White Rose Ball. I want to thank all of you who have supported this wonderful event. Thank you also to WPA for sponsoring a table. In attendance at that table were Chair­man of the Board Anthony C. Beke and his wife Marguerite, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Korpák, Mr. and Mrs. Rey Holguin, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kantor, Helen Molnár and Rose P. Antal. Thank you very much. A wonderful time was had by all. Please remember the families of our deceased members in your prayers: Mary C. Chelenyak, Julius Colman Jr., Barbara S. Loechner and Veronica Yonish. Remember also the families of our astronauts who perished on the Columbia. What a horrible day that was. Pray also for Emma Collins who lost her husband Bill. Emma has been one of our Christmas singers who lead us in song at our Christmas parties for many years. May they all rest in peace with the Lord. Last, but not least, happy birthday to my husband and Gabby's daddy, Tom House. We love you. May you all celebrate many more.
