I am especially delighted to report that Branch 15 is healthy and active once again. The branch's latest event was its children's Christmas party held at St. Stephen King of Hungary Church. The party featured good food, Old St. Branch News Branch 15 Chicago officers for 2003 are (standing, l-r) Joe Marocsik and Peter Vazul, auditors; (seated, l-r) Mike Horvath, vice president; Eva Laczina-Voris, secretary-treasurer; and László Corba, president Nick and gifts for the children. Unfortunately, some members did not know about the party. The branch officers did not have access to everyone's name and address. They will get that information soon. For those that came, especially the youngsters, it was a very good time. After the Christmas party, the election of branch officers was held. Elected by unanimous votes were: László Corba, president; Mike Horvath, vice president; Eva Laczina- Voris, secretary-treasurer; and Joe Marocsik and Peter Vazul, auditors. The branch will meet on the third Sunday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen King of Hungary Church, 2015 W. Augusta Blvd. There will be a Hungarian Ball at the Magyar Club of Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 25. Those interested in having a very good time should call Paul Varga at 847-541-1567. My father used to say—and it must be true—Hungarians know how to have a good time. Branch 15 members are some of the best. God bless you and may your branch flourish. Branch 16 Perth Amboy, NJ by Michaelene Mirkovich On Dec. 7 the Branch 16 annual family Christmas party was held at the St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in Perth Amboy. Branch President George F. Mirkovich welcomed everyone and extended greetings from the branch, officers and the Association. After a dinner of fried chicken and salads, our program began with Johnny the Clown, who kept both the young and old guessing as to how he did his many magic tricks. His balloon animals were a special delight for the children, who each received one to take home. As always, however, the highlight of the day was the entrance of Santa Claus. Prior to his arrival, Mr. Mészáros led all in singing traditional Christmas carols. At the sound of Santa's bells, everyone began to sing "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town." The children were thrilled and quickly got into a line to tell Santa their secret wishes for presents under the tree. The children each received a gift from Santa and a bag of goodies. We thank everyone who helped with the preparations for our Christmas party, including Michael Hrabar, Steve Mészáros, Mr. and Mrs. George F. Mirkovich, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hrabar, Frank Hrabar Jr., Kristin Hrabar and Melissa Mirkovich. Before the party the branch held its annual election of officers. Elected to serve our branch in 2003 were: George F. Mirkovich, president; Frank Hrabar Jr., vice president; Frank Hrabar Sr., secretary-treasurer; and Annette David and Melissa Mirkovich, auditors. Michaelene Mirkovich was appointed as branch reporter. The branch gratefully acknowledged retiring Branch Secretary- Treasurer Steve Mészáros for all of his years of service to our branch and the WPA. The officers and members of Branch 16 want to wish everyone a very happy new year, with health and prosperity for all. Williaiii Penn Lilf, February 2003 15
