For Starters Vote in your branch elections WPA kicks annual Holiday Basket program PITTSBURGH - For many WPA members and branches, our Holiday Basket program is as much of a tradition as roasted turkey or carol singing. We again invite all branches to join us in spreading the fraternal spirit this holiday season. Branches prepare baskets which include non-perishable food and other items donated by members. The WPA supplies a turkey or ham to complete each basket The Home Office donates $30 for each basket (up to three baskets per branch) to purchase additional items. Branch volunteers then deliver the baskets to families in need. Each year, more than 100 families experience a more joyous Thanksgiving or Christmas, thanks in large part to the generosity shown by our branches through the Holiday Basket program. PITTSBURGH - As the holiday season approaches, so, too, does the time for members to exercise one of the most important privileges of membership in the WPA: the right to vote in branch officers elections. Elections will be held this December, and every adult life-benefit member in good standing is qualified to vote. An adult life-benefit member is a person who has attained the age of 16 and has a life insurance policy with the WPA. She was bom Nov. 10,1897, in Szaniszlo, Hungary (now Sanislau, Romania) and emigrated to the U.S. on her 16th birthday. She married the late Stephen Maurer, also of Hungary, on June 4,1918, in Trenton. N.J.
