William Penn Association: A strong, vibrant, growing reality The Address of the National President to the General Convention By George S. Charles, Jr., FIC Dear Fellow Delegates, Guests and Friends: As your National President, it is with honor and pleasure that I welcome you to this 35th General Convention. This year, we will be completing our 117th year as the largest Hungarian fraternal life insurance society in the United States. We give thanks to almighty God for sustaining us through so many years. Since our last convention, I have at all times, to the best of my ability, fulfilled the responsibility and trust placed in me to be the voice of our members to manage the affairs of the Association. I hold the position of National President not for its glories but for its difficulties. You, as convention delegates, have a very important task before you, and we are confident that your input and decisions will enable our Association to continue on the proper path to fraternal success in the coming years. We thank you for your willingness to serve as delegates. Remember: The success of our team depends on people like you, who commit to excellence in everything you do. Thanks for the service you provide and for doing your work with a great sense of pride. We must support programs of our branches that are designed to bring members together and impress upon members the responsibilities and rewards of service to each other and the community. Our continued objective is to build fraternal programs at the local and national levels that will attract prospective members. Our insurance products are up to date and competitive. We must continue to grow to the limit of our capacity, not for the sake of bigness but for the sake of progress. Let's keep our Association simple and easy. Finally, we must believe that the cornerstone of our existence is firmly rooted in dignity and responsibility. We must recognize talent, ability and loyalty. Without a doubt, it has been a great pleasure and continuing learning experience for me to represent you. I hope you know how much I sincerely appreciate your support and trust. Our Association is one of the finest fraternal benefit societies in existence. We can grow and continue to prosper with good leaders and programs. I am very proud to be a leader of the William Penn Association. My goal is to serve you with enthusiasm, intelligence and care, guided by ideals, dedication and love. Although, at times, some tasks are tough, it is always foremost in my mind that you have placed your trust in me, and I will not let you down. Our Association is a strong, vibrant, growing reality, and our future is going to be strong. We must keep our Association alive, making our future generations and members proud to be a part of William Penn Association. Let us work together, pray together and serve together. May the future be rewarding for all of us. May you know how much I appreciate your support, understanding and friendship. A sincere thank you to my fellow officers, Official Family members and Home Office staff for all the rewarding experiences of the past four years. Working together with all of you, we have accomplished so much. To my dear wife Dianne and son Steve: From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate and thank you both for your endless hours of volunteering your time, talents and energy for the benefit of our Association and Scholarship Foundation. Most of all, thank you for allowing me to follow my dreams, for without your everyday love and support, I could not have accomplished anything. May the good Lord guide us in all our deliberations.
