feeling better. Congratulations to Chairman of the Board Anthony C. Beke on his election as chief elder of the Hungarian Reformed Church of America. We are proud of you, Anthony, and wish you the best of luck. The Carousel Ball in New Jersey was a huge success and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was held April 26 at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick. My granddaughter, Sarina Mauerman, looked like a little bride when she made her First Holy Communion on May 10 in Youngstown, Ohio. My granddaughter Erin Meehan graduated from the Kent University School of Nursing on May 9.1 was so proud of both of them and so happy to attend both affairs. I'm proud of all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I thank God for blessing me so abundantly. For all your life insurance and annuity needs, call Mike Tomcsak at 863-858-8071. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank Flag Day is June 14. This has been a nationwide observance since 1916. Old Glory stands tall, strong and proud. Few things in life are as symbolic as the American flag, a longtime icon of freedom. Remember to display Old Glory at your home on its 226th birthday. Happy Father's Day to all fathers on Sunday, June 15. All of you are deserving of a special day. May the good Lord bless you. It's that time of the year for Join Hands Day, June 21. It's a day when adults and youth work together to plan and execute a project that will help their community and help bridge the generation gap. Did you mark your calendar for Branch 800's summer picnic to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Highland Park in Altoona? Call me at 814-695-0213 to make reservations for you, your family and your friends. Deadline for reservations is July 27. Branch News We wish all members and their families an enjoyable summer. May you enjoy all of your outdoor activities in good health. Keep safety first in mind in all your travels. Thelma Schaefer is celebrating her 75th birthday in June. She asked me to tell everyone that she is enjoying good health and is still working and dancing. She said her key to longevity is to keep busy and not slow down. Congratulations, Thelma. Call me at 814-695-0213 if you have any news that you would like to share with your fellow members. We ask members to support our branch by encouraging your family, relatives and friends to join our financially strong Association. Call Bob Jones at 814-942-2661 for membership information. He's on duty all summer long. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz I hope everybody had a great Memorial Day weekend and a wonderful start to a much needed summer season. I would also like to wish all of the fathers and grandfathers out there a very happy Father's Day. May your day be filled with fishing lures, golf clubs, family gatherings and, most of all, love. Along with Father's Day come the June birthdays. Happy birthday to the following branch members: Jerome Conner, Henry Murphy, Matthew Oris, Tracy Shaw, Matthew Kifér, Denise Gourley, Meghan Rice, Collin Callihan, James Sunderland, Susanna Swan, Samantha Gatesman, Winifred and Orlando Durante (in sunny Florida), Jessica Lahr, Anthony Sarvey, Ethel Walter and Paul Weaver. Wishing you the best birthday imaginable. Speaking of birthdays, congratulations to Alan and Lori Szabó on their new daughter, Bridget. Many of you may not know this, but our Association has a fantastic website. You can get just about any information about the WPA you want, plus it offers links to many other great sites. The WPA can be found online at: www.williampennassodation.org. When you log on, go to the top of the WPA's home page and click on the "Thought for the Day" link. It will take you to a little message provided by the Daily Motivator website. A new message appears each day, along with beautiful, serene pictures for motivation and relaxation. I have visited the Daily Motivator site often, and it is quite a joy. If you have a moment, take a look. You won't be disappointed. Back on the WPA website, you can also read about our tax-deferred annuities. If you have any questions about our annuities or about our life insurance plans, then you can call me anytime. I am here to help you and your family, and I am just a phone call or email away. I can be reached at 412-821-1837, or by writing to P. O. Box 15060, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Or, email at: noreenbunnyfritz@verizon.net. I would like to take a moment to send special greetings to all my friends at Branch 8121 St. Marys, Pa. I hope your summer is off to a great start. Don't forget: Branch 8114 meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Main Street, Clarion. We welcome all members, their families and their friends. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA ..........-.......................................................................... by Margaret Marconi Our branch held a regular business meeting on May 7 at St. Marys Parochial School annex. We sent a donation to the WPA's Scholarship Foundation, which was to be added to donations made during the Foundation's annual meeting held May 23 in Pittsburgh. After the business portion of our branch meeting, we enjoyed a nice social and a great lunch. One of our members, Tom Pontzer, passed away recently. He was a good friend and a loyal member of the WPA. We send our sympathy to his family and we pray that God will look after him and love him. May he rest in peace. William Penn Life, June 2003 19
