House Happy Independence Day to all our wonderful members. We have seen a resurgence of patriotism in the USA, and I hope it continues forever. We recently returned from our Traverse City trip. As usual, we had a super group of members. Hope you are planning on joining us on the bus trip to the WPA picnic at Penn Scenic View in September. I'm sure you will enjoy this trip as well. Congratulations to Ashley Haas (pictured right) on her Little League skills with the Lincoln Park Little League. But you have always been a star. Please remember the families of our deceased members m your prayers, especially Jean Kinasz, Joseph Kastély, Stephen Szabó and Zolton Naki Jr. May they rest in peace with the Lord. We participated in a Join Hands Day project June 15 at the Wayne County Family Center for the abused and homeless. We had a large group of volunteers. We worked in the rain for a great part of the day before the sun came out. We prefer the rain. I want to thank each of our volunteers for their hard work and donations. Many prefer to remain anonymous, but here are a few: Downriver American Legion, Lowe's of Riverview and Kurtzhals Flowers. Lowe's manager Jim Geers donated fence poles, cement and grass seed. He also gave us a break on the 2x4's. Kurtzhals donated 20 flats of flowers. Mercers equipment rental in Southgate donated the post hole digger for the entire day. Thanks to Ron, Rick and Jim. Please remember these people .when you are doing work for yourself. Please mention the WPA and say thanks. The Family Center looks beautiful now. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You all showed the true meaning of fraternalism. Now, rest up. Join Hands Day will be here again before we know it. Thank you, Genevieve Molnár, for all your donated items. Branch 18 breaks for the summer. We will meet again on Sept. 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hungarian American Reformed Church. Steve and Anna Nagy and Elsie and Bob Kantor will bring us goodies. Come join us. Remember our Branch picnic on Aug. 4. Please also note that Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church will celebrate St. Stephen's day with a Mass and dinner on Aug. 18. Our bus trip to the WPA picnic at Penn Scenic View will leave Sept. 13 and return on Sept. 14. Your cost is only $75 for transportation, one-night hotel accommodations and the picnic. For any information on these events, please call me anytime at the number listed at the end of this article. Congratulations to all our lucky Branch 18 bowlers. The picture of the winning women's team in last month's William Penn Life should have been of Helen Molnár's team. Her team finished first in the handicap event; my team had the best scratch score. Everyone from Branch 18 came in the money. Great bowling! Have a wonderful summer. Bon voyage to my mom, Irene Korpák, as she leaves on her trip to Hungary. I just can't make it this year. Sure wish I could. For all your life insurance and annuity needs, please call me anytime at 313-383-4472 or 313-294-3997.
