What a great fundraiser. Speaking of scholarships, just a reminder to students that the deadline for applications is May 31. Happy May birthday wishes to George Charles, Jim Charles, Frank Fritz and all of our members celebrating birthdays this month. Enjoy your special day and hope you have many more to come. Warm get well thoughts are extended to Julius Zimmerman. May you return to good health very soon. Our thoughts and prayers are also with Ralph and Martha Schuller, their grandson and entire family, who are going through a very difficult time right now. May God grant you the strength to see you through. Thanks again, Nick Koricich, for your scholarship donation. You are a very thoughtful and generous person. Branch 800 , Altoofia,EA._ by Vincent Frank Mother's Day is Sunday, May 12. We set aside this Sunday to honor our mothers, for they deserve a rest, along with our thanks and prayers for their safe-keeping. Happy Mother's Day to all. Members and their families are beginning to make plans for their summer vacation trips. After our May meeting, our branch meetings will be in recess for June, July and August. After the summer, branch meetings will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend our branch meetings. It's so nice to have many people come up to me and say that they read the William Penn Life. I even received a letter from a past president of the former Catholic Knights of St. George, Joseph Miller. He said that he reads our publication every month. Thank you, Joe, and to all others who are faithful readers. The baseball season is in full swing here in Altoona with the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. I see a lot of Branch 800 members and their families attending Curve games and enjoying the entertainment. As Memorial Day (May 27) approaches, we need to remember what this day is all about. On this day, we honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in our nation's armed forces. Please, remember them in your prayers and enjoy the freedom we have, the freedom for which they sacrificed their lives. Branch Coordinator Bob Jones will be on duty during the summer months, signing up new members and servicing the needs of our current members. You can contact Bob in Altoona at (814) 942-2661.
