Branch News in history and have had our share of brush fires. I love Florida and would not like to live anywhere else, except maybe Maui. At our March meeting Branch President Mike Tomcsak read the "Talpra Magyar" during a memorial service. Door prize winners for March were Sara Lesko, Vi Shinski and Bill Becze. The half-and-half raffle was won by Sara Lesko, who donated her prize to the WPA scholarship fund. Thanks, Sara. Happy birthday was sung to Ethel Becze who was celebrating her 80th birthday. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of Ben Bero, Rose Nemeth, Shirley Damon and Colleen Dailey. May they rest in peace. Congratulations to Jodi Dues on being named to the dean's list at the University of South Florida. She will graduate next June from the school of nursing. Congratulations to Matthew Damon who was selected as an "All- American Scholar" by the United States Achievement Academy. Matt is a freshman at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. Greg Damon will receive his first Communion on April 28. Michele Meehan will graduate April 28 from the University of Pittsburgh nursing program. Elizabeth "Liz" Damon will receive her bachelor's degree in early child development from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. We are very proud of all of you. Ani Balázs from Hungary was visiting with her brother Karl Spitzkopf and his wife Nancy, who live in Eagle Lake, Fla. I have a new grandson: Aidán Patrick Hughes, who was born March 23 in Parma, Ohio, the son of Kimberly and Colin Hughes. I held him when he was only eight hours old, and he is beautiful. You can tell by his name he is Irish. Daddy Colin is from Belfast. Congratulations to Sarina Mauerman. She was on local TV and her picture was in the local paper for having one of her art papers on display at the Southern Park Mall in Boardman, Ohio. She is one of the best helpers in her first grade class. A special "hello" to my friend Betty Panin in Sharon, Pa. Congratulations to Michael Mozer on receiving his Eagle Scout award. I can't get over how tall he's gotten. I remember him at his confirmation ceremony. Good luck at Dartmouth. Welcome to our newest members, Georgia Schultz and her two sons. She resides in Bokeelia, Fla. Thank you for choosing the WPA. For all your life insurance needs, please call Mike Tomcsak at (863) 858-8071. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank A blessed Easter to all! Easter is the feast of the resurrection of Christ from the dead. It is the most important liturgical feast of the year. As we gather with our family and friends on this day, let us thank the good Lord for this most joyous day and reflect on its meaning for us. Summer vacations are just around the corner. Our branch's May meeting will also soon be upon us. As usual, the branch meetings will be in recess for the months of June, July and August. We will return for the September meeting on Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend branch meetings. Plans have been finalized for several branch events. Our branch's summer picnic will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 6:00 p.m. The memorial Mass for our deceased members will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 9:00 a.m. And, the annual Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 6:00 p.m. More on these affairs as we approach them. Spring has arrived and the fishermen are ready for the opening day of trout season, which begins on Saturday, April 14, at 8:00 a.m. It will be refreshing for you who enjoy this sport to enjoy the great outdoors after being cooped up for the winter. I am well aware of the many preparations that go into getting ready for opening day. So, get out to your favorite lake or river and enjoy this exciting season. Good luck to all of you. We'll recognize our 50-year members during our May meeting. All honorees will be notified by mail. The Home Office and our branch work together to honor these members who have retained their membership in the WPA all those years. We thank you for staying with our good, sound fraternal association. Call Bob Jones at (814) 942-2661 for any help you need regarding your life insurance and annuity policies. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz Branch 8114 remembers the family of Helen C.
