Members recently honored by Branch 800 for SO years of membership included (l-r) Robert J. Stabler, William Leberfinger and Joseph Strohmier. awards by mail. This wonderful night of celebration included a very nice buffet and much reminiscing by the honorees. Robert J. Stubler won the beautiful floral centerpiece. In addition to Mr. Stubler, the other 50-year honorees were Gordon F. Conway, Stephen J. Daws, John F. Dolheimer Jr., Allen F. Evans, Edgar W. Jones, William Leberfinger, Michael J. Stubler, Joseph Strohmier and Melvin C. Weyandt. America will be celebrating the 224th birthday of our flag on June 14. It would be nice to see Old Glory raised onthat day and treated with the respect it deserves. Display the Stars and Stripes of our nation at your home on Flag Day. Join Händs Day will be June 16. It is a day set aside for adults and youth to plan and conduct a service project that will benefit their community. The WPA and America's fraternal benefit societies hope you will participate in this day of service and bridging the generation gap. Happy Father's Day to all fathers on June 17. We wish all fathers good health so they may enjoy the summer months. God bless you all. Branch 800 member Michael A. Savino Sr., 80, died May 9. He and his wife Olive attended all our branch's social affairs. Services for Mr. Savino were held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Altoona. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Our sympathy goes to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Mark your calendars for the branch's summer picnic to be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 6:00 p.m. at Highland Park in Altoona. We agreed to make a financial contribution towards the WPA's Operation Christmas Child 2001 campaign. We also had a Mass celebrated in honor of our deceased members. Our sincere condolences go out to Mary Lou Schutz on the death of her cousin, Richard Spomer. He served faithfully as our branch president for many years. We will miss Dick. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers. After the business portion of our meeting, we enjoyed a nice lunch and social. All members are invited to join us for our next branch meeting. Branch 8321 Windber, PA by Edward T. Surkosky The members of Branch 8321 gathered for our monthly branch meeting on May 27 at St. Anthony Church in Windber. Our branch was saddened by the recent death of Branch President Anthony J. DiGuilio. May his soul rest in peace. Leonard Turcato will fill his unexpired term. Our members agreed that our branch will participate in the annual bazaar to be conducted by St. Anthony Church this July. 19
