OPERATION Delivering Íhope in a shoe box’ for a third straight year NOTHING BREEDS SUCCESS LIKE success. Because of your heartwarming response to our first two Operation Christmas Child campaigns, we're convinced our third annual campaign will be an even greater success. You know the numbers. In 1999 we collected 354 gift-filled shoe boxes for children living in crisis situations around the world. Last year, we topped that mark, collecting a whopping 526 boxes. How about it, fellow members-can we do even better this year? Part of the reason why past campaigns have been successful is that it's really easy to participate. You don't have to devote a lot of time or a lot of money to make a big impact in someone's life. All you have to do is 1. Fill an old shoe box or two with items from the list found below; 2. Enclose a check for $5 (made payable to "William Penn Association") in each box to cover shippingand other costs; and 3. Deliver the box to our Home Office, your branch officers, or one of O.C.C.'s collection centers. You will need to decide if your gift box is for a boy or girl and choose an age category: 2-4 years old; 5-9; or 10- 14. You can write this information on the box lid or use one of the slips found on the back cover of this issue. If you don't have any shoe boxes, you can donate loose items and we'll pack them in shoe boxes for you. Or, you can donate money which we can use to buy items for even more shoe boxes. Monetary donations should be made payable to "William Penn Association" and mailed to our Home Office. All shoe boxes and donations must be received at our Home Office by Sept. 15. If you plan to give your shoe boxes to your branch officers, please deliver it to them by Sept. 1. That way, your branch officers can see that your gift reaches our Home Office on time. You can also drop off your gift---------------------------------------------------——Please Note • If you wrap your shoe boxes with Christmas paper, make sure you wrap the box and lid separately. • Do NOT include items such as toy weapons, chocolate, perishable foods, lotions or liquids, vitamins, medicines, used items or breakable items. • The $5-per-box check and All other monetary donation should be made payable to “William Penn Association.” • We will be collecting boxes and donations at our bowling and golf tournaments and the Hungarian Language Camp. filled shoe boxes at one of Operation Christmas Child's 114 collection centers located across the U.S. For the location of the collection center nearest you, call 828-262-1980 or visit their web site at www.samaritan.org.
