baskets. We hope to do it again this year. Our branch meetings for the year are schedule for the following dates: Feb. 19, April 15, Sept. 16, Oct. 21 and Dec. 9. The National Fraternal Congress of America has designated June 17, 2000, as a national day of volunteer service for all fraternal benefit societies, their members and the general public. We want to be a part of it. Let's make a difference. If you have a suggestion on how we as a branch can volunteer that day, please call Branch President Charles as 1-800- 848-7366, extension 121. If you have news to share, please contact me at (412) 221-5136. If I'm not at home, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank As we have now entered into the much talked about new millennium, we hope that you may enjoy many good times with your family. Pope John Paul II has designated this year as a Jubilee year. Branch 800 elected its officers for the year 2000 at the December meeting. Elected were: Vincent Frank, president; Paul Mask, vice president; George Dorman, secretary; Robert Jones, treasurer; and Edwin Smith, Robert Aiken and Melvin Frank, auditors. The annual Holiday Basket program helped three families this Christmas. All were very thankful for this help. The branch and Home Office worked together in bringing this about for another year. The branch's annual Christmas party was well attended, with 72 adults and 21 children enjoying the festivities. A delicious catered dinner was enjoyed by all. The kids enjoyed an extra special treat this year. For the first time, Santa brought Mrs. Claus with him to help pass out gifts. Both were super in their new, bright red costumes. Even the adults enjoyed this. Many members took time to look at the branch's picture booklet, which was on display at the party. We thank the Home Office for the children's gifts and the invitations sent to the children. The WP A year 2000 calendars were passed out and all agreed they are of excellent quality. As usual, the door prizes were a big hit. The party concluded with all singing carols from the books furnished by the Home Office. Our thanks to all those who helped in any way to provide our members a very enjoyable evening. Anytime you have special news of any member of your family and want to share it with other members, just give me a call at (814) 695-0213. We will put it in the William Penn Life. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA by Margaret Marconi We held a regular business meeting Dec. 5,1999, at St. Marys Parochial School annex. It didn't feel like a December day, as the temperature was a warm and wonderful 60 degrees. This was the last meeting for several months. We will not meet in the months of January, February and March due to winter weather. We had a wonderful Christmas party for both children and adults. The room was decorated for the holidays and we had a beautiful tree. Everyone enjoyed playing games and receiving door prizes and favors, the best of which was the Christmas box full of items provided by the WPA. The children had first pick, then the big kids had a lot of fun. Everything was useful. We had a wonderful lunch. We were happy to have Sister Victoria, Father Alfred and Father Frank join us. We wish everyone God's love for now and the next century. THAT’S A QUESTION YOU MAY not have asked yourself very often, if ever. But, it’s one you should ask yourself at least once a year. We can’t stress enough the importance of regularly checking the beneficiaries listed on your life insurance policies. It is the only way to ensure that the people you want to receive the benefits of your life insurance are the ones who will receive it Think about the changes that have occurred in your life since you purchased your life insurance. Getting married, having children, losing a loved one, getting divorced, getting remarried-all these life changes affect your responsibilities. Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance policies reflect such changes? If you think you need to update the beneficiaries listed on your policies-either primary or secondary beneficiaries-contact your WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366. Williaa fen Lile, January 2000 17
