g0fatarskif> FomU'm AmJ WHY IS NATIONAL PRESIDENT George S. Charles jr. wearing such a BIG smile in the photos on the right? Because he’s being handed BIG checks-two grand each, and all for the benefit of the WPA’s Scholarship Foundation. At top, Branch 14 Cleveland President Caroline Lanzara presents her branch’s $2,000 donation, while below. National Director Barbara A. House hands President Charles a $2,000 donation from Branch 18 Lincoln Park, Mich. The two donations were part of $10,345 raised during and after the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation held May 26. The Foundation also benefitted from other activities held during the weekend. A 50/50 raffle held at the bowlers reception Friday evening netted $232.50 for the Foundation, and the annual benefit raffle drawn during Saturday’s awards dinner raised $ 1,869. Saturday’s lunch at the lanes, sponsored by Branch 14, raised $301, while our lane sponsors donated a total of $1,225. All told, the weekend’s events raised $13,972.50 for the Scholarship Foundation.
