AnnualBowling Tournament Bowlers enjoy another fun-filled, fraternal weekend IT WAS RAINY AND MISERABLE May 27 outside Cloverleaf Lanes near Cleveland. Inside, however, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, as WPA bowlers gathered for the start of the 57th Annual Bowling Tournament. The event attracted about 170 bowlers, including 20 children who enjoyed the Juvenile Fun Event (story and pictures, Page 11). The weekend opened with the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Assoociation Scholarship Foundation. During the meeting, $10,345 was raised for the Foundation. The weekend's other activities raised another $3,627.50 (story and pictures, Page 10). After the meeting all bowlers and guests gathered for the annual bowlers reception. Everyone enjoyed plenty of tasty food and refreshing beverages while getting reacquainted with old friends. For the first time, the reception featured a 50/50 drawing to benefit the Scholarship Foundation. The winner was Martha Schuller of Branch 296 Springdale, Pa. who claimed a nice little prize of $232.50. No one claimed the weekend's big cash prize, These gentlemen are all winners to us. Charlie Krajcsik, John Sinkovich, Julius Fabiankovitz and Gerald Walck-all members of Branch336 Harrisburg, Pa.-have attended each bowling tournament since 1948., an incredible streak we hope they continue for many years to come. Lm* Sponsors ITS BEEN *A SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER at the Annual Golf Tournament for several years, and we figured that-with a slight twist-it could work as well at the Annual Bowling Tournament. Thank you for proving us right. Instead of holes on a golf course, we asked our members, branches and friends to sponsor lanes at this year’s bowling tournament. You responded in true fraternal spirit. We received 47 donations (several more than actual lanes available) of $25 each, plus one for $50. That’s a total of $ 1,225, folks, all for the benefit of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation.
