We Got Mail English translation of Hungarian article would be welcome I just want to inform you that I really like the new format of your magazine, William Penn Life. I have been a member of William Penn for at least 50 years, but I am not Hungarian and do not speak the language. So, therefore, when your paper came and I saw the article entitled "A Budapesti Washington Szobor" in the "Magyar Nyelv" section, I was anxious to read about the statue of George Washington in [Budapest's] City Park. Is there an English translation and could you print it in your magazine? I am sure that there are many people who would like to read the article, but can't because of the language barrier. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Louise Nagy Depew, NY Louise, I'm afraid we don't have an English version of the story on the Washington statue in Budapest. However, we will be publishing English versions of future "Magyar Nyelv" stories. The first appears in this issue. The English versions are not complete translations of the Hungarian versions, but will be akin to lengthy summaries. We hope you enjoy them. William Penn Life makes Indiana member wax nostalgic Let me tell you how much I enjoy reading your William Penn Life magazine. I wax nostalgic when I read about all those great Hungarian names. Those activities sound like lots of fun. My mother, Mary Pinter Kirla, was an agent for the Verhovay Aid Association in the 40's. My dad, Gabor Kirla, emigrated to the U.S. in 1920. Mom came over in 1923 from Pozony (now Bratislava). My sisters and I attended magyar iskola when we were young. My husband Bob and I graduated from Purdue University from the school of pharmacy. We owned our drug store in French Lick (City Drugs) for 40 years. Thank you for helping me to stay close to my roots. Gloria K. Deremiah French Lick, IN You know, Gloria, you and your family are always welcome to join us at those fun activities. South Bend is a bit of a drive from French Lick, but our branch there is pretty active. We’re sure they would be more than happy to meet you. (By the way, do you know Larry Bird?) Couple appreciates publication of their wedding picture I enjoy your William Penn newspaper and like the new version. I hope you will continue the Hungarian page. My "new" wife of 30 months, Julia, receives your paper and we thank you very much for putting in the picture of our wedding in Hungarian costumes (WPL, February 1997). Keep up the good work. I came here from Szeged, Hungary . . . and have now lived in Steubenville for four years. I met my Hungarian lady Julia. After three months we were married. She speaks perfect Hungarian, though born here, and we (she) only want to use the Hungarian language at home all day and night.... I tease her about words. There's never a dull moment. I have hundreds of Hungarian records and tapes. We dance four nights a week—at 75 years of age, both of us. We are very happy and only wish the same for all. Thank you for listening to me. John J. Chomor Steubenville, OH Congratulations to both you and your wife, John. It was our pleasure to share your wedding picture with our readers two years ago, and it is our pleasure now to see you enjoying life together. Nothing makes our day like getting mail from our readers, especially readers who are also WPA members. Your comments, opinions and suggestions are not only welcome but vitally important. After all, how else could we know if we’re publishing the kind of information you want and need unless you tell us? If you have read something in our publication that struck a familiar chord, tickled your fancy, threw you for a loop, bowled you over, or made your blood boil, let us know.
