The Search for BabyOne 2 0 0 0 A new contest from the WPA PITTSBURGH -- When the new year arrives, we don't want to hear about the millennium bug, we want to hear about your new baby, Bud. Forget that computer virus; how's cute little Iris? Okay, so maybe parents don't call their children Bud or Iris anymore. The point is: we want to celebrate the beginning of the new millennium by rewarding the first baby born in the year 2000. We're calling it, "The Search for BabyOne 2000." The child whose birth is the first reported to the Home Office at our special BabyOne 2000 Hotline will receive a $2,000 juvenile life insurance policy courtesy of the WPA. To qualify for this prize, the child must have at least one parent who is WPA wraps up Operation Christmas Child an adult life-benefit member of the WPA as of Dec. 10,1999, with at least one year's premium paid. The child does not have to be the first born in 2000 to win, just the first birth reported to our Home Office. To report your baby's birth, call the BabyOne 2000 Hotline toll-free at 1-800-848-7366, Ext. 121. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The date and time of your call will be automatically recorded. Please leave the child's name, date and time of birth, both parents' full names, the parents' home address and home telephone number. Itineraries, prices set for WPA tours to Hungary NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Like the rest of the world, Hungary will soon be celebrating the beginning of the Third Millennium A.D. PITTSBURGH - This Christmas will be a little merrier for 354 children in need of merriment, thanks to your fraternal spirit and generosity. The heartwarming success of our initial Operation Christmas Child campaign continues to astound us. But, the project has come to an endfor this year-and now it's time for the final accounting. As you know, our goal was to collect 100 gift-filled shoe boxes, which Operation Christmas Child would distribute to needy children in crisis situations around the world. Instead, you donated 354 boxes. All of the filled shoe boxes were delivered Nov. 18 to the Operation Christmas Child distribution center located at the Northway Christian Community Center in Wexford, Pa. You also contributed $2,447.35. Most of this money was used to cover the $5-per-shoe box donation Dianne Charles, wife of the WPA national president and a coordinator of the shoe box campaign, stands in front of a mountain of colorfully wrapped boxes, all earmarked for delivery to needy children around the world. requested by Operation Christmas Child. The rest was used to purchase items for additional shoe boxes. All expenses incurred in conducting this Association-wide charitable project were paid for by the WPA. That amounted to $327.50~less than one dollar per happy child. Now, that's what we call getting the most for our dollar. 2 William Penn Ufr, December 1999
