Bud Uhl of Lutheran Brotherhood is president of the congress for 1999-2000.1 am the president-elect for the year 2001- 2002. Congratulations to Helen Molnár whose work on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers was featured in a story in our local newspaper. You always do a wonderful job, Helen, and deserve only good things. Congratulations also to David Michael Wolfe who completed basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. He will attend computer school at Great Lakes for one year before being reassigned for duty. David is the son of Debbie Gall Wolfe and the grandson of Irene Korpák. We are busily planning our family Christmas party to be held Dec. 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hungarian American Cultural Center. Invitations will be in the mail soon. If you don't receive one but would like to attend, please call me at (313) 383-4472. Lunch, entertainment and a visit from St. Nick are on the agenda. Our "Charity-of-the-Month" is the Penrickton Center for blind children. Our next branch meeting will be held Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m. Our trip to Soaring Eagle will be held Nov. 18 and 19. We're preparing the presents for the retired nuns in the "Adopt-a- Nun" program, planning the branch holiday party, contacting Santa, and gathering names for the holiday baskets. Someone will call you back to verify names, ages of children, etc. Santa, Kimi the Elf, lots of food, great junior member gifts, a raffle, door prizes and officer elections are on the agenda. Don't be a humbug­­come and have fun! Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Arthur Barillo There's excitement in the air in Northern New Jersey. Word has gotten around that Branch 51 will hold its annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 5. The election of branch officers will be held on the same date. The election will be held at 1:00 p.m. and our family Christ­mas party will start at 2:00 p.m. sharp. Both events will be held at the American Hungarian Club, 21 New Schley St., Garfield, N.J. We're looking forward to seeing all juvenile members and their families. A good time will be had by all present. Please remember the date and times for each event. We urgently need more members, both adults and juveniles, if our Christmas parties are to continue. So, grandparents and other members, go out there and roundup many new members. Our party is at stake. We wish all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries the best of happiness and health. Also, we wish all a bountiful Thanksgiving holiday. The party will be held on Dec. 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 130 Walters Lane, Spring­­dale. Doc Dougherty-All Star Magician will entertain. As always, there will be good food and a visit from Santa who will pass out treats to the children. Election of branch officers will be held on Dec. 9 at our regular meeting. Please plan to attend. Congratulations to George and Irene Charles Sr. on their 44th wedding anniversary, and to Ralph and Martha Schuller on their 43rd anniversary. Happy birthday greetings to Ralph and Martha Schuller and all our members celebrating birthdays this month. Member Bonnie Scholl recently moved to Texas.
