Pittsburgh prepares to welcome WPA bowlers Ti ■W\v\\ VG Ihe 56th Annual Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days are only two months away, and members and branches of our fraternal family are busily preparing for a fun-filled weekend. Packets containing information, entry forms and hotel and awards dinner reservation forms were recently mailed to all 1998 team captains. Entry forms for the adult tournament and Juvenile Fun Event, as well as the awards dinner reserva­tion form, can also be found on the next several pages of this issue of the William Penn Life. The deadline for submitting entries for the adult tournament is midnight, April 16,1999. For the Juvenile Fun Event, all entries must be received by April 23,1999. The awards dinner reservations must be sent to the Home Office by May 7, 1999. All hotel reservations must be sent directly to the Holiday Inn Greentree, the headquarters for this year's tournament. Anyone interested in acquiring a copy of the rules and regulations for the adult bowling tournament or the Juvenile Fun Event, or who would like hotel reservation forms, should contact the Home Office as soon as possible at 1-800-848-7366, Ext. 126. The tournament weekend will begin Friday, May 28, with the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation. The meeting will take place at the Holiday Inn Greentree. After the meeting, all bowlers and guests are welcome to a reception in the hotel featuring plenty of food and refreshments. The adult bowling tournament will begin Saturday, May 29, with the team event and continue on Sunday, May 30, with the doubles and singles events. Also on Saturday, the WPA will hold its third annual Juvenile Fun Event, a bowling event designed specifically for the enjoyment of children under age 16. The emphasis will be on fun, and everyone will leave a winner. Free bus transportation between the hotel and bowling lanes will be available. The excitement of the adult bowling tournament will again be heightened as members try to win a special $10,000 prize. The prize will be awarded to the first eligible member who bowls a perfect 300 game during official tournament play. If no one wins the prize on Saturday, all eligible bowlers will have another shot at winning the $10,000 during Sunday's play. To be eligible to win this prize, a bowler must be an adult life benefit member of the William Penn Asso­ciation as of April 1,1999, with at least one year's pre­mium paid. Additional eligibility require­ments for this prize will be mailed to all contact persons in the coming weeks. On Saturday evening bowlers and guests will gather in casual attire for the annual bowling tournament awards dinner at die Holiday Inn. The evening will feature a pre-dinner cash bar, dinner, door prizes and the auction-raffle for a vacation trip. A special children's menu will be available for those dinner guests age 3 to 12. The Home Office, bowling com­mittee and member of branches in the Greater Pittsburgh area are all working hard to make this an especially memorable weekend for all who attend.
