They are the parents of three children—Antoinette, David and Kimberly—and have two grand­children. Also, congratulations to the many door prize and raffle win­ners at the awards banquet. At our latest branch meeting, we scheduled the annual bacon roast for Sunday, Aug. 25, begin­ning at 4:00 p.m. at the Hungar­ian Reformed Church, Walters Lane, Springdale. We are looking forward to seeing many members and friends at this event. Please plan to attend. Our next scheduled branch meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church, Walters Lane, Springdale. Branch members always look for­ward to a grand day of getting together during the summer months. It gives us great pleasure to congratulate George S. (Pete) Charles Jr. on his election as National President. After serving well as National Vice President- Secretary and in all other pre­vious assignments with the soci­ety, he is most deserving and worthy to lead us forward into the next century. We wish him well and our prayers are with him. We also congratulate Rich­ard W. Toth as the Association’s Acting Secretary. A big thank you goes out to Frances Furedy for her handling of two positions at the same time over these many months. A job well done. Our branch’s monthly meet­ings will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes social hall in Altoona. A special thank you goes to all those members who were faithful in attending the regular meetings throughout the year. McKEESPORT, PA — The Wil­liam Penn Association Magyar Folk Dancers will host their 7th Annual Summer Picnic on Sun­day, Aug. 4, at the main pavilion in Renzie Park, McKeesport. Donation will be one dollar. The picnic will begin at 2:00 p.m. and feature a menu of stuffed cabbage, noodles and cab­bage, kolbász and sauerkraut and hot dogs. Their will also be a variety of homemade pastries and beverages. The program will include a performance by the dancers at 4:00 p.m. and the crowning of a new Miss Magyar of Western Pennsylvania and a little Hungar­ian Princess. Music for dancing will begin at 2:30 p.m. and be provided by the George Bátyi Continental Strings Orchestra. Furedy, 14, of Marietta, Ga., was among the 5,500 performers who participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Atlanta. Megan, a member of Branch 352, is the daughter of Charles G. and Donna F. Furedy and the granddaughter of National Auditing Committee Chairman Charles J. and Ruth Furedy. ATTENTION! Folk Dancers to host picnic Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA By Margaret Marconi Branch 8121 Secretary Our branch held a regular busi­ness meeting on July 3 at the St. Marys Grade School Annex. The menu was finalized for our branch picnic to be held Aug. 4. All adults and children are invited to attend. We are pleased to welcome Melinda and Nicholas Marconi as new members of our Associa­tion. Melinda is 9 years old, and Nicholas is 5 months old. Congratulations to Bradley Kraus, 29, who was recently ap­pointed District Attorney for Elk County. He is the grandson of branch member Amanda Kraus. A social followed the meeting.
