Born April29,1912, in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Papp came to the United States in 1933 and settled in Phoenixville where he was employed for more than 25 years at the Phoenixville Iron and Steel Company. He was also self-employed for 12 years in the ice business in Phoenixville and retired in 1977 from the Borough of Phoenixville Sanitation Department. Mr. Papp served as branch coordinator for the former Verhovay Aid Association, and later, the William Penn Association, for many years. He was a member of Parkside United Church of Christ, formerly known as the Hungarian Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the church council and the church’s Couples Club. He also was a member and past president of the Hungarian American Citizens Club and a member of the A.A.R.P. He is survived by his wife, Esther (Bartha) Papp; a daughter, Elayne; three sons, Louis, Richard and Bryan; two sisters; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
