Branch 132 South Bend, IN By Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. Branch 132 President The children’s Christmas party held on Dec. 9 in our William Penn Hall was lots of fun. Just ask any of the kids or parents that were there. Everyone had fun watching magicians Bill and Rita Henry do their act. The youngsters especially loved Bill’s bird tricks with live birds. The William Penn ladies served up 14 giant pizzas along with pop, cookies and ice cream. Santa came and spent time personally with each child, giving them candy and inviting them to go to the toy room to pick out the gift of their choice. Members young and old gather around Santa Clause during the family Christmas party hosted last month by Branch 129 Columbus, Ohio. Santa found time in his busy schedule to visit the children of Branch 132 South Bend, Ind., during the branch’s annual Christmas party. We asked that each child bring a non-perishable food item with them to be given to the needy. They did better than that. We had about 90 dollars worth of additional food items to add to our five holiday food baskets. Two of the families we helped this year were headed by widows struggling to keep their families together. A sincere thank you goes to Butch and Karen Thompson, Alex and Ann Horvath, Helen Pécsi, Carol Kumm, Scott and Kathy Lehmann, and Mary Ann Wukovits for all their help in promoting our branch Christmas projects. We wish you all a happy and healthy 1996. Branch 159 Phoenixville, PA By Caroline Kovach Branch 159 Coordinator Many little and teen-aged anxious faces, along with their families, filed into McDonald’s Restaurant on Dec. 3 for Branch 159’s annual Christmas party. Caroline Kovach greeted each family and gave them a package containing a new calendar for the coming year and a host of other William Penn goodies that everyone seems to look forward to. The smaller children were kept busy with coloring books and crayons until everyone arrived. At the appropriate moment, Caroline welcomed everyone on behalf of the Association and thanked all for coming. After lunch was served, and many refills later, Santa arrived and greeted all the children and distributed candy and gifts. He then was seated and listened to each child’s request as parents snapped pictures of their children on Santa’s lap. A very enjoyable time was had by all.
