Branch 349 Weirton, WV The members of Branch 349 were shocked and saddened by the news that one of our branch members, Joseph R. Koon Sr., was among those who died in the crash of USAir Flight 427 on Sept. 8 near Pittsburgh. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Linda, his sons, Joseph and Todd, and all his surviving relatives. We pray for his eternal rest and ask God to bestow his blessings on those who knew and loved Joseph. Branch 525 Los Angeles, CA By Sarika Gotz Branch 525 Vice President Happy new year to all our friends in the William Penn Association. Our branch Christmas party was a huge success. It was held Dec. 4 at the Hungarian Club in Bloomington. The children were so excited waiting for the arrival of Santa. The singing of "Here Comes Santa Claus” welcomed the jolly old man himself. He went straight to his work, handing out the stockings stuffed with so many goodies. He was helped by his two elves, Branch Coordinator Andy Gotz and Branch President John Balint. Each child also received a silver dollar. Christmas truly is for children. It was fun watching their faces as they opened up their gifts. Once the children were settled, the adult members and guests enjoyed a great Hungarian dinner served by the club. We also held our election of officers for 1995. Congratulations to our new officers: John Balint, president; Sarika Gotz, vice president; James Gotz, secretary; and Andrew Gotz, treasurer. Let’s all help and support these officers in the new year. We would also like to say thank you to the Home Office for its support of our Christmas party. May the new year bring us all peace, health and prosperity. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL By Joan Mauerman Branch 590 Reporter Election of branch officers for 1995 was held Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Egret Clubhouse in Cape Coral. Congratulations to President Michael Tomcsak, Vice President William Bartus, Secretary Rose Darob, Treasurer Joan Mauerman and auditors Irene Sabo and Elizabeth Posey. John Lesko, former chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, administered the oath of office. After the elections, we held our branch Christmas party. Many thanks go to branch members Bill Becze and John Veres. Bill sang solos and led members in singing Christmas carols. John accompanied him with his violin and tapes from his previous band in Cleveland. The meal was catered by the De Bono’s Catering service from Cape Coral. Bakers included Rose Darob, Irene Redden, Joan Mauerman and Mary Mekler. Our thanks also go to Egret Condo President Bud Gunther and the members of the condo for their generosity. Last, but by no means least, we thank the Home Office for making this party possible. "Happy Birthday” was sung to Michael Darob, Elizabeth Posey, Joan Mauerman and Michael Tomcsak. Michael Darob won first prize in the door prize drawing, and many other prizes were won by other members. As usual, the members enjoyed their favorite game, progressive bingo. We wish to remind all those who signed up to see "Fiddler on the Roof” on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Broadway Palms Dinner Theater in Fort Myers that our group will meet at the theater at 11:00 a.m. that day. The buffet opens at 11:45 a.m., and the show begins at 1:15 p.m. We hope all had a happy and healthy holiday season.
