From July 31 to Aug. 6, the William Penn will conduct an intense, one-week Hungarian lan­guage workshop at its beautiful facilities at Penn Scenic View, located southeast of Pittsburgh in Rock wood, Pa. The camp will be open to only life-benefit mem­bers of the William Penn age 18 or older. Tentative plans call for instruc­tion to be offered on both begin­ners and intermediate levels. The level (or levels) of instruction will be determined by the needs of those members expressing a sincere interest in attending the camp. Participants will receive a total of 25 hours of practical instruc­tion from experienced teachers. The workshop will be limited to 25 students, thus allowing for greater individual attention for each student and more opportu­nities for useful exercises. The week will begin Sunday, July 31, with registration for all students at Scenic View. Students will be asked to arrive Sunday afternoon because classes will begin early Monday morning. From Monday through Friday, students will start their day with breakfast then meet for instruc­tion. After a lunch break, stu­dents will reconvene for an after­noon instructional session. After dinner each day, all in­structors and students will gather for special social activities, offer­ing students more chances to practice their new skills. The camp will conclude on Saturday, Aug. 6. The cost for the week-includ­ing lodging, all meals, instruction and workshop materials—is only $200 per person. Clean linen and towels will be provided. Deadline for reservations is July 1. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come/first-served basis. Those whose reservations are received after the cut-off point will have the option of being placed on a waiting list in the order in which their reserva­tions were received. A limited number of double room will be available on a first­­come/first-served basis. All other students will be housed in dormi­tory style accommodations. To reserve your space in our camp, complete the form found in this issue and mail it to the Home Office. Be sure to include your deposit of $50 per person with your form. Plans set for 11th golf tourney N J. prepares to host bowling tournament and scholarship days PITTSBURGH — With winter coming (we hope) to an end, we would like to send this warm thought to all William Penn golf­ers: the Association’s 11th An­nual Golf Tournament will be held July 15 and 16. This year’s tournament will be played on the 18 holes of the Venango Trail Golf Club, located just a few miles north of Pitts­burgh, in Warrendale, Pa. Ac­commodations for golfers and guests will be at the Sheraton Inn-W arrendale. The schedule for the weekend will be similar to that of previous tournaments. There will be a golfers reception Friday, July 15, at the hotel, featuring the popular putting contest for the benefit of the William Penn Fraternal Asso­ciation Scholarship Foundation, Inc. The tournament will be played Saturday, July 16, and will in­clude various skill shot contests, open to all golfers, located along the course. The big prize—a brand new 1994 automobile—will be award­ed to the eligible golfer who scores an ace on the designated hole for the Hole-In-One contest. To be eligible for the hole-in­­one contest, a golfer must be a life-benefit member of the Wil­liam Penn Association by June 1, 1994, with at least one year’s premium paid. The official program will con­clude Saturday evening with the annual golf awards dinner at the hotel. The evening will also fea­ture a big door prize giveaway and the exciting auction raffle for a set of new golf clubs. More details and a reservation form for the golf tournament will appear in upcoming issues of the William Penn Life. NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Members and branches through­out the William Penn fraternal family are busy preparing their entry forms for the 51st Annual Bowling Tournament and Schol­arship Days to be held in New Jersey over the Memorial Day weekend. Members interested in bowling at this year’s tournament should contact their local branch presi­dent or branch coordinator as soon as possible. The deadline for all entries is April 22. The tournament weekend itself will officially begin on Friday, May 27, with the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Founda­tion, Inc. The meeting will take place at the Somerset Marriott in Somerset, N.J., the headquarters for this year’s tournament. After the meeting, a reception for all bowlers and guests featur­ing plenty of free food and re­freshments will be held in the hotel. The bowling competition will begin Saturday, May 28, with the team event and continue on Sun­day, May 29, with the doubles and singles events. All bowling will take place at Carolier Lanes, located in nearby North Bruns­wick. Free bus transportation be­tween the hotel and lanes will be provided. For the sixth straight year, the excitement of Saturday’s team event will be heightened as bowl­ers try for the special $10,000 prize. The prize will be awarded to the eligible member who bowls a perfect 300 game during this event. To be eligible to win this prize, a bowler must be a life benefit member of the William Penn Association by April 1, 1994, with at least one year’s premium paid. If two or more eligible members each roll a 300 during the team event, then the $10,000 prize will be divided equally amongst the winners. On Saturday evening bowlers and guests will gather in the hotel ballroom for the Scholarship Awards Dinner-Dance. The even­ing will feature a pre-dinner social hour, dinner, door prizes, live music, entertainment and open dancing.
