Glad to hear that Kaye Novak is home from the hospital and doing well. Congratulations to my grand­son, David Ryan Mauerman, who received two art awards in one week. One was from the Youngs­town Diocese and the other from the Youngstown Symphony. He is 12 years old and attends St. Lukes School. He is also a Wil­liam Penn member. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President During our May meeting, we honored all those who have been members of our society for 50 years. We saluted 23 members who reached this pinnacle in their lifetimes. We are sad to report that Thomas A. Francis, 91, a 50-yeai member, died recently in Altoona Hospital after an extended illness. A Mass of Christian burial was said at Our Lady of Mount Car­mel Church in Altoona. Our sympathy is extended to his wife and three children. May his soul rest in peace. Our next branch meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA By Margaret Marconi Branch 8121 Secretary Our branch held its regular monthly meeting May 4 at St. Marys Parochial Grade School. Get well and birthday cards were signed and sent to members and friends. We also received two thank you cards for Mass cards our branch donated in memory of deceased members. Our branch’s picnic will be held on Aug. 7. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. After the meeting, our mem­bers enjoyed a lunch and social. Congratulations to my grand­daughter, Branch 8121 member Theresa M. Marconi, who has received a scholarship from the National Merit Corp. In Memóriám MARGARET J. PHILLIPS PITTSBURGH — Members and Home Office employees were sad­dened by the recent death of Mrs. Margaret J. Phillips, 75, who passed away April 25, 1994. Mrs. Phillips, a member of Branch 34 Pittsburgh, was the wife of Richard J. Phillips, former investment manager for the Wil­liam Penn Association. She is also survived by two sisters, Yolan Pastor of Allen Park, Mich., and Olga M. Garney of Seminole, Fla.; two sisters-in­­law, Hazel Avani of Battle Creek, Mich., and Violet Janowski of Westland, Mich.; an aunt, Helen Nemeth of Detroit; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment was in Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit. Memorial con­tributions may be directed to St. Clair Hospital Foundation, c/o St. Clair Hospital, 1000 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
