Brooch News May 1994, William Penn Life, Page 7 National Director Barbara House (foreground) presents a check from the William Penn to the Rev. Barnabas Kiss during his installation at Holy Cross Hungarian Roman Catholic Church in Detroit on March 27. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI By Barbara A. House National Director I hope everyone had a lovely and happy Easter. God blessed us with beautiful weather. I hope your weather was (finally) great, too. Many William Penn members were present at the installation of the Rev. Barnabas Kiss at Holy Cross Hungarian Roman Catholic Church in Detroit on Palm Sunday, March 27. The Most Rev. Bernard J. Harrington, auxiliary bishop of Detroit, was the main celebrant at the beautiful ceremony. Father Barnabas has been a longtime friend to the William Penn. Congratulations and welcome, you have become very special to our family. We also welcome the Rev. Angelus Ligeti who has joined Father Barnabas at Holy Cross. Holy Cross is indeed a lucky parish. Special welcome to Rexy who keeps everyone in line. Come and get acquainted. Even though Julie Chesley started her five-week vacation on Marco Island, Fla., with a broken arm, she and husband Andy had a marvelous time. They were joined by their son Andy, daughter-in-law Cindy and granddaughters Anna and Mackennzie. Daughter Lynn and her husband Bill also joined the happy family. Welcome home. I am glad it wasn’t your bowling arm. Congratulations, Ida Kanyo, on your new home. You sure are lucky. Our sympathy goes to the families of Andrew Lizák, Louis Pasko, Kenneth Betlejewski and James Pringle. May they rest in peace. Happy birthday to Rose Krumm. May you enjoy many more. Continued get well wishes go to National Director Louis Fodor. It was wonderful to talk with you. You almost sound like your old self. Keep up the good work. We love you. I hope by now all your paperwork is in for the annual bowling tournament. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you in New Jersey. A short meeting was held prior to the dinner and show. A delicious buffet dinner followed by the musical "Singing in the Rain” was enjoyed by all. A "Hungarian Day” was held Jan. 30 at the Vero Beach Cultural Center, complete with a display by Hungarian artists. There was a large collection of jewelry and artifacts, as well as strolling musicians, story tellers, gypsys performing dances, acrobats and fortune tellers. The Orlando Hungarian Dancers performed and Vic and Dee Cardis from Hommasasa, Fla., played the dance music. It was a beautiful day with a temperature of 82 degrees. William Penn members from as far away as Connecticut were there. There was special entertainment for children. It was a family affair with three generations of families there. It was truly a wonderful day, well worth the drive. You could tell a lot of hard work and planning went into the event. We plan to attend next year. The Hungarian Club from Cape Coral, under President Erwin Bero, sponsored a 42-passenger bus trip to the event. There were many Branch 590 members in attendance. Happy birthday and anniversary wishes to all those celebrating this spring. Our continued good wishes go to Lou Fodor and Stephen Ivancso. Congratulations to National President E. E.
