Hrabar and his wife Ann greet Archbishop Domenico DeLuca at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bemardsville, N.J. The Hrabars and other members of Branch 16 Perth Amboy welcomed the Archbishop who was recently consecrated in Rome and appointed as Nuncio (Ambassador) to Morocco. Archbishop DeLuca celebrated Mass at the church August 29. Branch 13 Trenton, NJ By Elsie H. Radvany Branch 13 Secretary Branch 13 had the distinct pleas­ure of hosting a luncheon for some of its 50-year members who are over the age of 75. The luncheon was held Sept. 19 at the social hall of the Hungarian Re­formed Church in Trenton. A- mong the 100 people in attend­ance were 35 50-year members. Branch President Frank J. Rad­vany welcomed the members and guests. It was a joy and pleasure to see so many of our older members and their guests present for this event. National Director Anthony C. Beke offered the invocation. The members and guests partook of the luncheon which consisted of breaded chicken breast, stuffed cabbage, a vegetable, cucumber salad, dessert, coffee, tea and soft drinks. President Radvany spoke a­­bout the progress the Association has made since its inception 107 years ago. He explained the many fraternal and social activities of­fered by the Association for the benefit of its members. He urged everyone to support the scholar­ship foundation which has aided hundreds of college students who are members of our society. President Radvany presented a 50-year pin to the oldest female member, Regina Virok, and to the oldest male member, Joseph Toth. Director Beke and National Auditor Joseph Hamari present­ed pins to the remaining 33 members. President Radvany introduced all the branch officers and extend­ed sincere thanks to the commit­tee which assisted him in prepar­ing for the occasion. He also thanked Margo Beke who catered the luncheon. The members and guests all received favors which were supplied by the Association. Branch 13 extends thanks to the Home Office in Pittsburgh for its kind assistance in making this event a success. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH By Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 President Members of Branch 14 are busy planning the annual children’s Christmas party, "Breakfast with Santa,” to be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10:00 a.m. This year’s adult admission will be donated to the William Penn’s scholarship foundation. Invitations with r.s.v.p. cards will be sent to all children who are members of Branch 14, but any Branch 14 member is welcome to attend. Please call Dawn Ward at 838- 1200 if you would like to attend the party. We’re looking forward to a wonderful party with great food and gifts! The branch officers and those faithful members who regularly attend the monthly meetings are always trying to think of activi­ties that would interest our mem­bers. The most recent idea is a "night at the races” which would include an evening of dinner and "playing the horses” at a local racetrack. Please call Dawn Ward at 838-1200 if you’re interested. The Hungarian Association will hold its annual conference and ball at the Holiday Inn at 1111 Lakeside Ave., Cleveland, on Saturday, Nov. 27. House National Director Our condolences go out to the family of Frank Kato. Frank was an active William Penn member for many years. Rest in peace, Frank. You will be missed. A great big thank you goes to all those who helped to save the Hungarian Heritage Center in New Brunswick, N.J. It was a huge undertaking, but you did it. The Center will continue to ac­cept donations which will help meets its $350,000 annual bud­get. Again, thank you very much. We extend happy birthday wishes to Mary Tirpák, Teri Var­go, Ernie Ecsedi and Ethel Fodor. May you all enjoy many, many more. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH By Kathy Novak Branch 28 Reporter The wheels are in motion for the fast approaching holidays. It all began with the Fall/Holi­­day Craft Bingo hosted by Branch 28 on Oct. 10. All who attended found most of the prizes reflected the upcoming holiday themes. A very nice sociable time was had bv all. The Youngstown Hungarian Freedom Fighters held the tradi­tional commemoration services for the 1956 conflict in Hungary at the Franciscan Friary on Oct. 31. Speakers included the Rev. Sándor Farkas and the Rev. Dezső Torok. The annual Thanksgiving ves­per services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the American-Hungarian Re­formed Church, 925 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Plans are progressing nicely for the annual Branch 28 Christmas party. Santa and guest will greet the children on Sat. Dec. 11 at the American Hungarian Club House, 2219 Donald Ave., Youngstown. Festivities will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. So mark your calendar. Best wishes to everyone having a birthday or anniversary celebra­tion this month. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA By Barbara Kapinus Branch 34 Coordinator Things have been rather quiet for activities since the golf outing, but we will end the year in festive style. Our annual children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5, at noon in St. Ann’s social hall, 4735 Chats­­worth St., Pittsburgh. We plan a great time for all, especially the juvenile members. We look for­ward to seeing you there. Another important event to round out the year will be our election of officers for 1994. This will be held on Sunday, Dec. 12, at noon in St. Ann’s social hall. Our celebration of the Christmas season will be held after the business meeting and election. See you then.
