Association opens registration for Hungarian Language Camp PITTSBURGH — The Associ­ation has announced the final details concerning the fourth an­nual Hungarian Language Camp to be held Aug. 8 to 14 at Penn Scenic View in Rockwood, Pa. Any William Penn Association life benefit member age 18 or older who is interested in learning Hungarian or improving his or her Hungarian language skills may register for the camp. Instruction will be offered at a beginner’s level, an intermediate level or both, depending on the needs expressed by those attend­ing the camp. Students will receive 25 hours of instruction focusing on practi­cal usage of the Hungarian lan­guage. The camp will again be limited to 25 students, allowing our experienced teachers to give more individual attention to each student and allowing more time for meaningful exercises. Instructional sessions will be held twice a day, Monday through Friday. Each day will start with breakfast followed by a morning session. After breaking for lunch, students will reconvene for an afternoon session. Following dinner each day, all instructors and students will gath­er for enjoyable social activities, which will provide students with an opportunity to practice what they have learned in class. The cost for the week—includ­ing six-nights lodging, all meals, instruction and learning mate­rials—is on $200 per person. Clean linens and towels will be provided. The deadline for reser­vations is July 2, 1993. Reservations will be taken on a first-come/first-served basis. Those whose reservations are re­ceived after the class has been filled will have the option of being placed on a waiting list in the order in which their reser­vations were received. A limited number of double rooms will be available on a first­­come/ first-served basis. All other I students will be housed in dormi­tory style accommodations. To reserve your spot in our language camp, complete the form found in this issue and mail it to the Home Office. Please include a $50 per person deposit with your form. New Brunswick to host festival NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — New Brunswick Hungarians are busy finalizing plans for their city’s 18th Annual Hungarian Festival to be held Saturday, June 5. The event, sponsored by the Hungarian Civic Association, will take place within a four-block stretch of Somerset Street in the heart of the city’s Hungarian district. The festival will feature Hun­garian music, dancing, art, crafts and food. It will also feature exhibits at local churches and organizations showcasing Hun­garian artifacts and history as well as the history of local Hungarians. The William Penn Association and other member organizations of the Hungarian Civic Associ­ation invite everyone to join us for this festive celebration of our Hungarian cultural heritage. Details finalized for 10th Annual Golf Tournament COLUMBUS, OH — The fun and excitement of the William Penn’s annual golf tournament is only week away. And the time for registering for this year’s event is now. All members and friends inter­ested in playing in this year’s tournament must send in their completed reservation form (found on Page 5) to the Home Office by July 9,1993. So, if you want to join the fun, send in your entry as soon as possible. You won’t want to miss the great weekend we have planned. The weekend will begin Friday, July 23, with the annual reception for all golfers and guests at the Holiday Inn - Columbus East (formerly the Hilton East) in Columbus, Ohio. There will be plenty of good food, refresh­ments and great fraternal fellow­ship. The evening will also feature the annual putting contest for the benefit of the William Penn Frat­ernal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc. For those golfers arriving early on Friday, the Association has reserved tee times from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that day at the Turnberry Golf Course, the site of the tournament. Those golfers wishing to play the course on Friday should call (614) 645- 2582 to reserve a tee time. The 18-hole tournament will be played on Saturday, July 25. There will be prizes for the lowest net and gross scores in both men’s and women’s divisions and prizes for the winners of various skill shot contests designed to test golfers’ driving and putting abilities. Of course, the big prize will go to the eligible member who scores a hole-in-one on the designated par 3 hole during tournament play. The skill shot contests will be open to all golfers. However, to be eligible for the hole-in-one prize, a golfer must be a life benefit member of the William Penn Association by June 1, 1993, with at least one year’s premiums paid. All golfers will also enjoy com­plimentary food and refresh­ments after the ninth hole. The weekend’s official activi­ties will conclude Saturday even­ing with the annual golf awards dinner at the Holiday Inn. A social hour will precede the dinner. All dinner guests will be eligible to win one of many free door prizes to be given away after dinner. Everyone with a dinner ticket will also be eligible to participate in the exciting auction raffle for a new set of golf clubs and bag. Entry fee for the tournament is $33 for William Penn members and $40 for non-members. The fee includes greens fees, carts, a golf gift at Number 1 tee and refreshments along the course. The entry fee does not include the cost for the awards dinner. Tickets for the dinner are $20 per person. Accommodations at the Holi­day Inn are $54 (plus tax) per night, single or double. Hotel reservation cards will be sent to each group’s contact person. All golfers and guest must make their own hotel reservations. Golfers, branches, businesses or groups may also sign on as sponsors for holes along the golf course for a $ 100 donation to the Scholarship Foundation. The name each sponsor will be placed at the tee of the hole being sponsored. Those wishing to sponsor a hole should contact the Home Office as soon as possible. All golf entry forms are due at the Home Office by July 9. So sign up now!
