BEGANYI SPRINGDALE, PA — The mem­bers of Branch 296 Springdale and the entire Association were saddened by the recent death of former National Auditor Emma L. Beganyi. Mrs. Beganyi, 74, died Oct. 17, 1993, in her home in Springdale. Mrs. Beganyi was elected to the first of four consecutive terms on the National Auditing Committee in 1971. She served as the com­mittee’s secretary from 1971 to 1979 and as chairman of the committee from 1979 until her retirement in 1987-She was also a faithful and active member of Branch 296 for many years and served on numer­ous branch committees. She was bom Nov. 29,1918, in Springdale and lived there all her life. She was vice president of the branch office of Springdale Sav­ings and Loan. The company was sold to Atlantic Financial and later became the Springdale office of Integra Bank, from which Mrs. Beganyi retired in 1989. She is survived by her husband, James Beganyi, and a brother, Joseph Danka of Oakmont, Pa. A memorial service was held for Mrs. Beganyi at the Charles B. Jarvies Funeral Home in Spring­­dale, conducted by her minister, the Rev. Charles Limpar. National President E. E. Vargo offered remarks on behalf of the William Penn Association. The members of Branch 296 also remembered Mrs. Beganyi by saying a special memorial prayer for her during the branch’s Octo­ber meeting. Burial was in Springdale Ceme­tery. The family suggests memor­ial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. May she rest in peace. NICHOLAS JUHASZ CLEVELAND — The members of Branch 14 Cleveland and the entire Association were saddened by the death of Nicholas Juhasz, past president of the branch and a former member of the National Auditing Committee. Mr. Juhasz died on Sept. 2, 1993, of natural causes at his home in Cleveland. He was 87. For more than 50 years, he dedicated much of his time and effort to the Association. He served as president of Branch 14 for 25 years and was a National Auditor from 1963 to 1967. He also managed the Verhovay Hung­arian Cultural Club in Cleveland for many years. He was born in 1906 in Komo­­ro, Hungary, and became a master butcher. In 1927, he and his wife Magdeline came to the United States and settled in Johnstown, Pa. He owned a butcher shop and grocery store in Cleveland from 1952 to 1955, when he sold the business and began his 18-year career as a superintendent at Bates and Springer Management Co. Mr. Juhasz was active in local politics, serving on the central committee of the Republican par­ty of Cuyahoga County and as a voting booth judge. He was a past president of the Hungarian Business and Trades­men’s Club and a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church. As a member of the Hungarian Re­formed Federation of America, he helped Hungarian refugees get settled in America. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Helen Vatty, and a son, Julius. He is survived by a son, Nichol­as Yuhas of Euclid, Ohio; two daughters, Alice Eger of Wick­­cliffe, Ohio, and Dorothy Cala­brese of Cleveland; 13 grandchil­dren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that all monetary donations be sent in his name to the Hungarian Cultural Gardens, which he helped to es­tablish, or to the Hospice of the Western Reserve. May he rest in peace. JULIA KRISTÓF CHER BETHLEHEM, PA — Julia Kris­tóf Cher, 77, a member of Branch 48 New York, passed away Oct. 4,1993, in Leader Nursing Home in Bethlehem. She was the widow of Frank J.
