Everyone enjoyed the Hungarian music played by Dan Laslo, Louis Fodor and Frank Duska, with some guests singing along to favorite tunes. Other activities included bingo and raffles. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Domijan who recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The successful affair was truly enjoyed by all. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH By Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 President After a summer recess, Branch 14 resumed its regular monthly meetings Wednesday, Sept. 9. Everyone agreed that the summer outing to Sea World was quite a success. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH By Kathy Novak Branch 28 Reporter As the summer of 1992 came to a close, leaving us all with memories of vacations, reunions, picnics and plenty of fun-filled days, we looked forward to our monthly meetings resuming in September and making plans for the upcoming months. Our meetings are held the third Sunday of each month at the home of Branch President Steve Sándor. We wish to extend special birthday greetings to Mary Maty who turned 101 and Anna Sándor who turned 95 on Sept. 8. Many blessings to both of them. Happy birthday and anniversary wishes go to everyone else celebrating a special day recently. The branch celebrated President Sandor’s birthday at our September meeting. Get well wishes go to all who haven’t been up to par lately. Our condolences to all families who have lost a family member recently. Best of luck to all students returning to school this fall. Branch 44 Akron, OH By Elizabeth K. Darago Branch 44 President Congratulations to Velma E. Stanley and her brother, Alex Kovach. Both received their 50- year member pins on Aug. 31. They are second generation 50- year members, as their father was also a proud 50-year member. Twenty-five travellers enjoyed the "Trip into Yesterday” sponsored by Branch 44. Our special train, dubbed "Penn 1,” chugged through acres of farms where the corn and elderberries were so close you could almost pick them from your seat. While at Sauder Farms in Archibold, guests enjoyed homemade root beer, corn-cob jelly, a checkers tournament and a barbershop quartet on the village green. Junior members enjoyed ringing the village bell and pumping water the old-fashioned way—by hand—at the village pump. Everyone enjoyed the surrey rides "with the fringe on top.” It was a lovely, sunny day for a trip into yesteryear. Special happy birthday wishes go to Theresa Weaver, Branch 44’s senior, who will be 102 years young on Oct. 16.
