On May 24 Jack and Geri celebrated their 51st wed­ding anniversary. Our best wishes to them. Our club also hosted an Appre­ciation Day June 14. The event featured a band, games and good food. Goydan Branch 226 Coordinator Congratulations to Branch Vice President Michael S. Benedict and his wife Mary on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniver­sary. They were married on June 6, 1942, at Our Lady of Hungary Church in Youngstown, Ohio. She is the former Mary Toth of McKeesport. The Benedicts have four sons, Michael A. of Valen­cia, Pa.; James J. of Liberty Boro, Pa.; Stephen J. of North Canton, Ohio; and Eugene A. of McKees­port. They also have 11 grand­children. One of our ladies’ teams, Strike Force (captained by Bette Hoffman), took first place in the women’s team event. And one of our men’s teams, Stromco Inc. (captained by Gustav Strom) won the men’s team title. We had three men’s and two women’s teams at this year’s tournament. Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Steve Horvath Branch 249 President The late Albert G. Kertesz was honored during the national bowling tournament when Na­tional President E. E. Vargo and Chairman of the Board Joseph P. Arvay presented a plaque to the Kertesz family honoring him for his many years of dedicated ser­vice to the Association and the Hungarian community. Members and bowlers had a wonderful time during the tourn­ament weekend. It was a great success. We at Branch 249 are anxious to relax after all the hard work and dedicated effort put forth in making the tournament a success. Special thanks are extended to all those bowlers who helped with the activities surrounding the tournament: Jack Schweitzer, Michelle LaFlame, Dorothy Rus-PITTSBURGH — Only a few spaces are still available for the William Penn’s Hungarian Lan­guage Camp to be held Aug. 2 to 8 at Penn Scenic View in Rock­­wood, Pa. Anyone wishing to attend the camp should fill out the reserva­tion form on this page and send it with the required deposit to the Home Office as soon as possible. Deadline for reservations is July 15. The camp will be limited to 25 students with reservations taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations received beyond the camp limit will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were received. The camp will offer 25 hours of instruction focusing on practi­cal usage of the Hungarian lan­guage. Classes will be geared to benefit both beginners and those with previous Hungarian lan­guage skills. Charles Branch 352 Reporter Congratulations to all the win­ners at the 49th Annual National Bowling Tournament held in Dayton, Ohio. Our men’s team, Demolition Crew, came in sec­ond place in the handicap divi­sion and third place in actual score. Way to go, team! Happy birthday to our branch members celebrating their special day in July. We would like to welcome Anne M. Egy, our newest branch member. Congratulations to Fred and Patti Jackson who are celebrating their anniversary on July 28. Our branch was well represent­ed at the Hungarian Festival held June 6 in New Brunswick, N.J. Our thanks to the Hungarian Civic Association and the Ameri­can Hungarian Foundation for their continued efforts in pro­moting Hungarian culture. The dedication of the commemora­tive tribute honoring all U.S. Armed Force personnel of Hun­garian descent touched the hearts of all attending the ceremony. Our thanks to Bob and Barb Kapinus and all Branch 34 mem­bers who organized the fund­raiser for Celeste Bugielski on June 20 at the Hungarian Social Club in McKeesport, Pa. The time and effort spent on such a worthwhile event was apparent to all who attended. We appreci­ate the invitation. Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH The members of Branch 8164 gathered June 14 for Mass at St. Anthony Church, with celebrant Msgr. Gene Mullett, then enjoyed breakfast together at the rectory hall. Julia D’Aurora and Matilda Maier arranged the breakfast. Branch President Pete Buffone led our group in the opening prayer and the pledge of allegi­ance. Albert DiFalco presented the financial report, and National Director Louis A. Fodor gave an update on the status of the Wil­liam Penn Home. This being the last meeting for the summer, a social hour fol­lowed the meeting with all present discussing various and interesting subjects. Msgr. Mullett offered the closing prayer. A sympathy card was signed and sent to Angela Grossi for the recent death of her sister, Ann White. Our next meeting will be held Sept. 13.
