Branch 13 officers for 1992 are (from left): Vice President Joseph Hamari, Controller Margaret Hamari, President Frank J. Radvany, Secretary Elsie H. Radvany and Treasurer Anthony C. Beke. Children enjoy a magic show at Branch 34’s Christmas party. Branch 10 Weirton, WV Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH Branch 349 Weirton, WV Branch 8243 Wellsburg, WV By Louis A. Fodor National Director A Christmas party for children belonging to the above branches was held the afternoon of Dec. 8 at the Hartman Manor in Martins Ferry, Ohio. All children of the four branches received invitations in the mail. The response was good, especially when one considers that local school districts had closed their schools because of an influenza epidemic. The food that was prepared by the ladies looked delicious, but dinner was put on hold until Santa Claus made his appearance and distributed fruit, candy, money and gifts from the Home Office. Once Santa completed his happy task, we all enjoyed a hearty meal of turkey and all the trimmings. After dinner, we all sang Christmas carols out of the books supplied by the Home Office. The branches who shared this party thank the Home Office and the Board of Directors for authorizing the generous allotment which allowed us to have this party. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. John Laslo, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Laslo, Pat Bennet, Margaret Moore, Joe and Mary Tocash, Bill and Helen Alberts and Ethel Fodor for helping with the food, entertainment and arrangements. Branch 13 Trenton, NJ By Elsie H. Radvany Branch 13 Secretary Branch 13 held its annual election of officers and family Christmas party on Dec. 8 at the American Hungarian Democratic Citizens Club. Branch President Frank J. Radvany called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone present. Following the reading of the minutes and the treasurer’s report, President Radvany read the names of 27 deceased members of Branch 13 who passed away during 1991. The members stood for a moment of silent prayer in memory of the deceased. President Radvany gave a brief summary of events the Association and Branch 13 conducted during the year. One of the more recent branch activities was the preparation of a Thanksgiving baske. The basket was delivered to the Trenton Rescue Mission where it was used to benefit the needy and homeless. Election of officers was held, and the following were unanimously reelected: President Radvany; Joseph Hamari, vice president; Elsie H. Radvany, secretary; Anthony C. Beke, treasurer; and Margaret Hamari, controller. Stephen Barnacz installed the newly elected officers. President Radvany then extended Christmas and holiday greetings on behalf of the Board of Directors, national officers and branch officers. After the meeting everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet. Christmas stockings filled with goodies were distributed to all present. The fraternal fellowship that followed was enjoyed by all. Branch 13 extends sincere thanks and appreciation to the Association for its contribution to our Christmas party. Sincere thanks are also extended to the entire committee who helped make this event possible. For servicing your insurance needs, please contact Elsie H. Elected at this meeting as officers for 1992 were: Dawn D. Ward, president; Violet Sarosi, vice president; Stan Dorulla, secretary; Ernie Sarosi, treasurer; and Irene Evans, Rose Kaul and Karen Perkins, auditors. After the business meeting everyone enjoyed delicious refreshments. Another successful Christmas party was held by our branch on Dec. 7. Nearly 300 people were in attendance, including 137 Branch 14 juvenile members. The children were entertained by Lucky the Clown and Jim Abraham’s amazing magic tricks. Branch Auditor Perkins managed to locate Rudolph and have him entertain the children, also. The highlight of the party was a visit from Santa who coincidentally bore a striking resemblance to Branch 14 member Ernie Raymond. The donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items by those attending were very generous. This form of "admission” to the Christmas party was truly appreciated by the needy, and it is something we wish to continue at future parties. Congratulations to Ernie and Hazel Raymond who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 21. Hazel is convalescing in Pine Valley Nursing Home in Richfield. Best wishes to both of you. The next branch meeting will bejan.8at4116 Rockside Road, Independence, at 7:30 p.m. All Branch 14 life benefit members are welcome to attend to help plan the agenda for 1992. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH By Kathy Novak Branch 28 Reporter Branch 28 hosted another successful Christmas party on Dec. 14. Those in attendance were entertained by magician Johnny K and led in song by Betty Szabó. Of course, everyone’s favorite person this time of year, Santa Claus (Branch Vice President Steve Novak), made his annual appearance. Mrs. Claus (Ruth Fabian) was unable to join us this year due to recent surgery. We all hope she is recovering well. Santa and his helper (Kay Novak) distributed gifts to all the children. Then everyone enjoyed some refreshments and shared a wonderful time. Many thanks to all of those who helped to prepare and run this annual party. Following the party members gathered for a business meeting during which we elected our branch officers for 1992. Those elected were: Steve Sándor, president; Steve Novak, vice president; Irene Nemeth, secretarytreasurer; and Kay Novak and Irene Kady, auditors. We wish all those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this month a happy year to come. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all who recently lost loved ones. The annual memorial Mass for the deceased members of Branch 28 will be held at Our Lady of Hungary Church in the near future. All members are urged to attend our monthly branch meetings. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA By Barbara Kapinus Branch 34 Coordinator With 1991 now another year in memory, our warmest wishes to all for a 1992 full of joy, health, love and peace. And, while we fondly remember recent celebrations, such as our children’s Christmas party, we look forward to moving full speed ahead under the direction of our officers for 1992: Robert Kapinus, president; Walter Bugielski, vice president; Miriam Hager, secretary; Andy McNelis II, treasurer; and Maria Bistey and Andy McNelis 111, auditors. If you know these folks and see them on occasion, let them know you will be there for them when the need arises. It was so nice to meet one of our scholarship recipients recently while cleaning the church for the holidays. Dan Primm is a student at California University of Pennsylvania majoring in sports medicine. He mentioned he will be going shortly to the state of California for a week. Good luck, Dan. Thanks for all your help and enjoy the sunny West Coast. The winner of our 50/50 raffle for the benefit of the Celeste Bugielski Pancreas Fund was Judy Espy of Pittsburgh. She pocketed $922, some of which may have gone for Christmas gifts. Soon after the raffle, the Bugielski family received a check for an additional $500 from the United Paperworkers International Union Pittsburgh Local 296. This was a pleasant surprise. If you have any ideas for our branch in the coming year, please let us know via the Home Office address or telephone. We look forward to hearing from you. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ By Ernest J. Mozer, Sr. Member, National Auditing Committee On Dec. 1 Branch 51 held its annual election of officers.
