We wish everyone a happy and prosperous 1992. Branch 76 Philadelphia, PA By Clara Fenessy Branch 76 Corresponding Secretary Branch 76 held its annual meeting and Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Philadelphia Hungarian Club. We had a fairly good number of adult members in attendance, but the response from the children was not what we expected. We would appreciate hearing suggestions from parents as to how we can attract more children to this enjoyable event. The officers elected for 1992 are: Joe Karoly, president; John Gubicza, vice president; Elsie Szemes, treasurer, Clara Fenessy, corresponding secretary; and Helen Molnár and Steve Pokorny, auditors. Following the meeting those present were treated to novelties, souvenirs, a visit from Santa, caroling and an abundant and delicious buffet with refreshments, all in the true spirit of Christmas. It was with deep regret that we received the news of the sudden passing of a well-known and longtime member, Stephen Juraky. He passed away Dec. 19 at age 83. Steve and his wife, Sophia, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in October. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed being with family and friends. He played his harmonica and likedi to harmonize to old melodies. Our most sincere sympathy goes to his loving family. He will be greatly missed. We wish all our members the best in 1992. Branch 88 Rural Valley, PA By Joseph Chobody Branch 88 Reporter On Saturday, Dec. 7, Branch 88 held its monthly meeting at the club hall, during which nomination and election of officers was held. Officers elected for 1992 were: Dennis Chobody, president; Thomas Hellgren, vice president; and Alex Chobody, secretary-treasurer. Plans for the family Christmas party, new year’s party and food baskets for the needy were made. The family Christmas party was held on Sunday, Dec. 15. Entertainment was provided by Jim and Nick Buffone. Santa heard the children’s requests and handed out Christmas treats. Thanks to all who helped make the party a success. Food baskets for the needy were delivered on Dec. 21. We hope we were able to help the families who received baskets have a brighter holiday. Thanks to the Home Office for its assistance in this project. The annual party at Branch 88 will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9. We hope all branch members will be able to attend. Branch 129 Columbus, OH By Arpad Sibrik Branch 129 Coordinator Branch 129 held its December meeting and election of officers for 1992 at Leonardo’s. The meeting was well attended, and the 1991 officers were reelected for another term. Congratulations to Margaret Boso, president; Terry Albert, vice president; Priscilla Sibrik, treasurer; Bonny Tokár, secretary; and Charlie Boso and Margaret Leonardo, auditors. Our family Christmas party was a great success with more than 300 members and guests in attendance. There was plenty of good food, including cabbage rolls, fried chicken, Hungarian sausage, sauerkraut, escalloped potatoes, relishes, pastries and liquid refreshments. Old Santa paid us a visit and handed out $5 bills, coloring books, crayons and candy to the branch children under age 16. There also were plenty of door prizes, courtesy of the Home Office and some of our members. Herman the Magician presented an interesting show, and everyone had a good time. We were all saddened by the news that Bradley James Boso died as the result of a hunting accident. Our condolences go to his wife, Sally; his children, David and Ashley; his parents, Charlie and Margie Boso; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave George. An education fund has been established for the children. The national bowling tournament to be held in Dayton is getting nearer. We are looking for men and women to bowl with us. Please call Arlene Reis at (614) 885-2883 if you are interested. Our next meeting will be held on Feb. 12 at Leonardo’s, located at the corner of Parsons and Frebis avenues in Columbus. Branch 132 South Bend, IN By Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. National Director Despite a blast of severe winter weather, Branch 132 held its annual family Christmas party as scheduled last December. Those who braved the bad weather to attend said it was the best branch Christmas party they could remember. The children (and adults) were entertained by magician Kim Daugherty. As much as the children enjoyed the magic, they seemed to enjoy the visit from Santa Claus (Scott Lehmann) even more. After Santa visited with the young guests, everyone enjoyed hot dogs, pop, potato chips and candy. Branch 189 Alliance, OH We had a fine turnout for the annual New Year’s Eve party. All 120 people in attendance enjoyed good food and dancing to the music of the Gloom Chasers Band. Earlier in the evening, Branch Coordinator Wilbur (Zack) Taylor introduced the branch officers for 1992: Marge Antonasanti, president; Karen Hoover, vice president; Sharon Penturf, treasurer; Kathy Schafer, secretary; and Clint Akins, Jerome Hamby and Betty Hamby, auditors.
