We urge all adult members to attend our meetings so that everyone may have a say in the operation of our branch. During the past holiday season our branch took part in the Holiday Basket project in which baskets of food were given to the needy. And, believe you me, the recipients were very appreciative of this act. The holy season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13. It’s a time for making little sacrifices and trying to improve our prayer life. We wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14. In other branch news, longtime member Leo Schoch celebrated his 90th birthday recently. The Rahm family had a dinner for him at the Bavarian hall in Altoona. Forty people attended. Leo is residing in the Eisenhower building at the Veterans’ Home in Hollidaysburg, Pa. Your prayers are asked for Margaret Palumbo who underwent a serious heart operation at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. She is the sister of Branch Trustee Joseph Palumbo. If any of our members have something that they want to share with the other branch members, please let us hear from you. Call me at 645-0213 and your information will get in the next branch report. Branch 8020 McKees Rocks, PA By William Arbanas Branch 8020 President Three needy families in two McKees Rocks churches received turkeys and boxes filled with food from the members of Branch 8020. Our branch also made monetary donations to the St. Joseph House of Hospitality for the homeless and to the St. Vincent De Paul Society which helps the poor. We held two overwhelming parties, one for the 132 severely retarded adults in the Robinson Developmental Center and the other for the elderly residents in Hope House, both in McKees Rocks. Both parties featured music, singing, laughing and Santa passing out goodies to all. During the party at the Robinson Center, National President E. E. Vargo presented the Association’s annual donation to the center. Branch 8020 President William Arbanas also presented a donation from the branch. Our branch also purchased a Christmas gift for a needy senior citizen as part of a project conducted by our local church. We at Branch 8020 are proud and happy that we accomplished an abundance of good deeds this past holiday season. Branch 8286 Philadelphia, PA By Elizabeth Kakas Branch 8286 Vice President At the last meeting of Branch 8286, our members voted to donate $300 to a home where retired and infirm nuns reside. We also gave a holiday basket of food to a man who is confined to a wheelchair and comes to our Hungarian Mass. Our branch also had a mass said for one of our members, Paul Vago, who was in the hospital. We are happy to report that he is back with us again. We thank the Home Office for the gifts it sent us for the children who attended our family Christmas party. The party was very enjoyable with Santa arriving just as the children finished the program. We hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and wish all a happy, healthy 1991. Welcome To Our Fraternal Family BRITTANY A. M. ALTEMOSE KATHRYN & ZACHERY GOSCIEJEW MATTHEW HANNAN MICHAEL E.
