Golf-------Continued from Page 1 urday evening’s awards banquet, the emphasis is on relaxation and fraternal fellowship. Even during tournament play, the competition remains spirited yet friendly. And when the tournament winners are announced, one hears only loud applause and hearty congratulatory wishes. This year, those wishes went to Pat Ciarolla, Chuck Furedy and John Pini who each shot 81 to win the men’s low gross title, and to Dorothy Constantini who took the women’s low gross crown with an 83. Mr. Ciarolla and Mr. Furedy also earned applause for winning the men’s low net title with scores of 69, while Ruth Ludeman won the women’s low gross title with a score of 70. Meanwhile, Mr. Pini and Ms. Constantini enhanced their victories by also sinking the longest putts on the 18th hole. Other skill shot winners included John P. Danko and Betsy Griffith who came closest to the pin on hole #11; Steve Cummings and Heather Preston who hit the longest drives on hole #13; and John Barany and Mary Tuss who came closest to the line on hole #7. All of these golfers were recognized during the awards banquet. However, they were not the evening’s only winners. Many guests won door prizes. Joe Wass won the drawing for the AM/FM radio with cassette that went unclaimed the previous night when no one sunk three straight putts during the putting contest. Louis Kubus won a free getaway golf weekend for two, courtesy of the Sheraton Inn North and Venango Trail Golf Club. The free-trip-to-Hungary drawing had two winners: Joseph P. Arvay, chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, who won the trip; and the Scholarship Foundation, which received all the proceeds from the drawing. The banquet’s climax was, once again, the annual auction raffle John Pini (left) and Chuck Furedy shared the men’s low gross title with Pat Ciarolla. All three had scores of 81. (Photo by Louis A. The only prize left behind was the new 1991 station wagon that would have gone to any and all eligible members who scored a hole-in-one on hole #4. Several golfers hit tee shots that reached the green, but the day’s gusting winds made scoring an ace an even more difficult task. Still, everyone who participated in the weekend’s activities went home winners. They all gained new friends and many happy memories. Dorothy Constantini, four-time women’s Low gross champion.
