Toth Branch 89 Reporter Branch 89 held a trip to the Wheeling Downs dog races in Wheeling, W.Va., on June 1. Among the 71 people taking the trip were National President E. E. Vargo and his wife Betty, retired National Secretary Gus G. Nagy and his wife Betty, and National Director Elmer W. Toth and his wife Ruth. On our way to the race track, we enjoyed playing several games of bingo, rehashing memories of previous trips and plotting our strategy for the races. Once at the race track, we enjoyed a scrumptious sit-down dinner of stuffed chicken breast, stuffed pork chop or roást baron of beef followed by dessert and, of course, the races. As this was the first trip to the races for many of us, there were only a few who won more than $200. Many of the people simply enjoyed taking in the surroundings and watching the various dogs. After the races, we boarded two buses, supplied by DeBolt Unlimited, for our trip home. Branch 89 members gather June 1 for the branch-sponsored trip to the dog races at Wheeling Dooms. Even though no one left a multimillionaire, everyone had a good time and wanted to know when we would be coming back. We want to extend special thanks to our photographer, Bill Mayor, who captured the event in pictures. In order to accommodate the many requests for a trip to the races, we will be having a trip to the horse races at The Meadows on Aug. 17. Price will be $28 per person, and space is limited. All those interested should contact Lisa Toth at 461-5812. We are pleased to report that our third annual fall trip to Atlantic City will be on Oct. 20 to 22. Space for that trip is on a firstcome/ first-served basis. Please see Lisa for further details. Branch 159 Phoenixville, PA By Caroline B.
