The gifts to the two churches represented the major portion of the $20,000 total raised by the W illiam Penn Association Erdély Fund. Of the total raised, $7,719 was contributed by individual members, branches and friends of the Association. The Association itself matched those donations, raising the total to $15,438. The Association’s Board of Directors donated an additional $4,562 to reach the $20,000 mark. Earlier this year, the Association forwarded gifts to two other relief agencies aiding the Hungarian refugees. The Europäischer Hilfsfonds in Vienna received $2,652 and the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation in New York received $1,000. Hungarian Room celebrates 50th year Continued from Page 1 in the development of the room and the committee. Members of the former Verhovay and Rákóczi associations contributed much of the funds used to construct the room and to install the stained glass windows. Over the last 30 years, the William Penn has sponsored numerous cultural events to benefit the scholarship fund. Today, the William Penn plays a leading role in developing the future of both the room and the committee. Five of the six officers on the committee are members of the William Penn. National Director Roger G. Nagy serves as the committee’s chairman and National Treasurer Frances A. Furedy is the committee’s treasurer. Other William Penn members serving as officers on the committee are: Alexander J. Goydan, first vice chairman; Albert D. Furedy, second vice chairman; and Robert A. Kapinus, secretary. The committee’s controller is Klara Varady. Tickets for the Sept. 10 dinnerdance are $15 per person. For reservations call Frances Furedy at the Home Office, (412) 231- 2979.
